Bobby Brown BlackVoices.com Exclusive April 3 2008

Posted Apr 3rd 2008 10:11PM by Karu F. Daniels

By Karu F. Daniels & Brennan Williams, BlackVoices.com

PART TWO:

There are less than six degrees between Steffans and Houston; they both have had tumultuous, tabloid-ready relationships with Brown, and also are or were romantically associated with young R&B stud Ray-J (who Brown refers to as "the little guy" throughout 'Truth').

Brown doesn't take issue with Houston, 44, dating Brandy's younger sibling, who is 27. But when it comes to their 14 year old Bobbi Kristina's take on it, that's another story.

"This doesn't bother me," he writes. "She's open to see who ever she wants to see, just like I can see who I want to see ... it's to each his own. The only concern I have is how our daughter feels about the age difference. As long as she is cool with it, then it's fine with me."

On April 3, Houston's media machine issued a carefully worded statement to 'People' magazine, who did a pick-up from a story that 'The New York Post' ran from an excerpt of the tome they were given.

"Miss Houston is sad that Bobby feels he need to say such things but she choses to take the high road and will not speak badly about the father of her child even if it's to set the record straight," the statement read.

What the 'New York Post' ran barely scratched the surface for what Brown really detailed in 'Truth.'

About her rumored lesbianism:
"You could pick up any magazine or tabloid in the world and there would be information about Whitney's sexual desire for women."

About the opposing sides of their relationship: "On one hand you had Whitney's parents, especially her dad, telling her "he's no good for you, you have to get rid of him before he destroys you.' On the other hand you had her business associates, or people trying to make money off of her, telling her, "I know she can straighten out if she didn't have that man around her." As if that wasn't enough to deal with, She also had half brother, in-laws and scandalous sisters trying to start controversy about her only to black mail her to keep their hands in her pockets."

About her racial identity: "She had become the token white woman with black skin and I was her shadow. This became a joke to us because Whitney always had this thing where she thought she was more white than black. I believe she got this idea from her being accepted in the industry from the white culture. I don't understand how she felt like this when I know she was more "negro" than I am. Not African-American, but more "negro" than I could ever be. (Do you catch my drift?) That is one of the reasons why I always loved her so much, because she was so real!"

But Brown doesn't only write openly about Houston's tribulations, he's very candid about his transgressions.

On being a philanderer in the entertainment industry, for the first time he reveals some details (in not all) of having "encounters" with Holly Robinson-Peete, Madonna, The Real Roxanne, Karyn White, and soap opera veteran Debbie Morgan. "I probably had dated half of the industry," he boasts. "From everybody to everybody ... The list goes on from the who's who to the flava of the month."

Brown compares his cocaine addiction to famous movie characters: 'I thought I was 'Scarface.' I had a desk ... in my room, and I kept the girl (his name for cocaine) piled up on the desk. Every time I walked pass that desk, I'd make me a line of coke from one end of the desk to the other. I'd take me a straw and snort that line from one end to the other, the same way Scarface did it in the movie. You couldn't tell me nothing, I felt like I was Tony Montana! The World was Mine! I never had to look for coke, I kept it plentiful."

He even revealed that he overdosed in August 2001 of heroine addiction. "I had been getting high all day before I hit the floor unconscious and Whitney had to dial 911. I was so high, I died three times before the ambulance even got there. I also had a severe stroke that caused my heart to stop. The paramedics had to hook up heart paddles to revive me before rushing me off in the ambulance. I stayed in the hospital for days after this. When I pulled through, I decided I would never use the "boy" again. This incident left my mouth crooked. And every time I talk my lips turn side ways. This condition came from the stroke I suffered from the overdose."

As you can see, the book is too hot to handle and too cold to hold.

And there's much more from where that comes from. And because of that -- we won't give it all away.

Log on here for advance orders.

1. Bobby, why use Whitney to bring her down in whatever truths or not about her sexuality to make your $$$$ GAIN in this book? Why would you expose the mother of your child like that? I hope in your book, you include your children and thank your family and friends that supported you all the way?

traveling all around and spreading the word that drugs are bad to, drug users and to young and old old people? You are suppose to be good role model and give back with your PAST EXPERIENCE to individuals that are struggling and need to hear from a person that has been through it.

Ok, you used Cocaine and Heroin, and you say you won't do it again because, you suffered a stroke and your mouth is crooked now. Bobby, did you ever think of the need to get out there and help those that our struggling with drug use in a "Positive Way"? Give back Bobby! Do something "MATURE" and START a "Bobby Brown" Foundation that could help those who are struggling with drug use! What have you gave back to people that supported you all these years from the beginning? What can you do to help and teach people that are drug users that durgs aren't Ok? You need to spread the word that Drugs are not good and this is what you suffered from using it? I thought by now, you would reach to the next level to "Maturity" and be a "Good Role Model"? You can do BETTER!

Again Bobby, you aint getting my $$$$ and
THAT'S THE TRUTH"!

Your Not Getting My $$$$ Bobby! at 11:25AM on Apr 4th 2008

2. To everyone reading this article, please don't buy this book it will only put money in this Bums pocket. He used Whitney for so long spending all her money, now he wants to exploite her even further for his own personal gains.
GET A LIFE BOBBY AND STOP EATING OFF WHITNEY'S NAME!!!!!!!!! LOSER!!!!

Dee at 12:57PM on Apr 4th 2008

3. Oh please Bobby you are pathetic, and this goes to show that he has no real talent, or whatever talent he had went out of the window after new edition. Why doesn't he go out and get a real job.Exploitation is not cute bobby BE A MAN step up to the plate and get a real job! Using Whitney to make yourself a profit has been done already, after all you 2 were married for 14 years. Didn't he use her already? and now because he couldn't make a hit song if he had the directions, he wants to write a book about his sorry ass, oh brother hell is upon us..People don't buy this book from this gutter rat. He has no real musical ability he needs to get a job , delivering papers, working at his nearest fast food joint, whatever it takes..but I will not be buying or watching anything he is a part of, punk ass bitch.

4. Alright, you hatin'...but I know you were "all-in" reading that exerpt, so "don't play". I can't wait for the book to hit the streets and for Bobby to do the talk-show circuit promoting it. It's obvious from the exerpt that ol' boy has embellished "big-time" telling his story. "It's gonna be sooo good (and by good I mean hilarious)...I caint wait!!!!" As far as "using" Whitney, come-on...they "used" each other. I remember watching Whitney get booed during the Soul Train awards. She needed some serious "P.R" at that time, and quick! So what does she do, she hooks up with "hood-rat", bad-boy Bobby Brown. Instantly, that perception of the "Ice-Pop-Diva-Queen"
that had begun to surface, sub-sided. Whitney's music (at that time), was already being perceived as "too White-bread" and the Black community wasn't havin' it. So, I say they "used" it other...too bad they were both "mis-using" drugs. At any rate...I'm reading the book!

5. This comment is for BENZLUVA #3. I totally AGREE WITH YOU! Look, there ain't no shame to the Jackson Family. Just to name some Jackson brothers who will do anything to survive. This is reality if your music career is done and have no $$$$ Invested over the years, or Education.

You got brother Marlon Jackson, 51, an original Jackson Five member who stocks shelves at a Vons supermarket in San Diego, had to temporarily move into an extended-stay hotel.

Randy, 46, does odd jobs, including fixing cars in a Los Angeles garage owned by a family friend.

Tito, 55, is the only brother still making music, but it’s a meager living. The guitarist fronts a blues and jazz band that plays small venues and nets him $500 and $1,500 per occasional gig – a far cry from the days when the Jackson's could pull in 50,000 people at $30 a ticket.

So, Bobby can do it by getting back on track doing odd jobs as a start, or do what brother Tito from the Jackson's did and try to do gigs at venues. Go in the studio and start making music again, just go "Solo"Better yet, Bobby should call up his boys from "New Additon" and talk about a "New Addtion Tour" and make music again. If that doesn't work, just go SOLO, get back in the studio and start making some music. There are a lot of people you can collab on with. You did 2 or more years ago with one of the Marley brothers? That was cool. You still have talents as a overall entertainer. It's not too late and now is your time to come back if you want a change for your children and yourself!

Good luck to you and your family.

6. I think Bobby is very imature, I think he should just let it go,Everyone in this world has skeletons in their closets, yes whitney did some things in her lifetime that wasnt just right, she is human. what makes this all messed up whitney was married to this fool for 14 years and had his child, you would think he have some respect for bobby christina, he dont care its all about money in this world, and thats why the majority of people thats like bobby brown, is going to burn in hell! and thats the REAL!!!

Glenda at 9:04AM on Apr 6th 2008

7. To the idiot that said I bet you all read the excerpts of course we did. Reading is fundamental and allows you to make wise decisions. One for me is that I will not buy the book and what read it not even a library version. I didn't read superhead's book either. I am thankful to get advance excerpts so that I won't waste my money. I agree Mr. Brown needs to state what he has learned from his behavior. It appears from the excerpts nothing at all. He will do anything to get his hands on some money. Wow! Whitney was really dupped. She paid his back child support, she bailed out his estate and all his bills when she married him. She lived as a wife supporting her husband. The African American/Negroes has Mr. Brown puts it is guilty of one thing. If you become famous, you are never black enough. Who are we to say what is black enough? We need to lift each other up and not bring each other down. When will we really over come and be true examples for our children to look up to. Look at Bobby Brown and people like him who have become role models for our young. Barack may be half white and half African but the man is a role model, he gave back and has earned te right to run for the highest office in the land and yet we won't support him because he's black. We're running behind people like Bobby Brown. Come on we gotta re-claim our kids and not allow people like Bobby, Whitney and Superhead be the examples to follow. Rise up People....teach our children...be the example you want them to see!

audrey at 9:42AM on Apr 6th 2008

8. WHOA, TELL IT BOBBY! I don't believe in kissing and telling, but hey SHOWBIZ is SHOWBIZ. Everyone is curious about how people in the BIZ REALLY live. He's sharing his stories like many before him. I hope yr comments about Karrine help her to become a better mother but I don't think you're the one to criticize about parenting, help all your children bond as loving siblings then talk. Your eldest son is FINE, hope his singing career takes off. Overall I like BOBBY BROWN your Bravo show only helped me appreciate who you are, ONLY HUMAN.

DINA at 9:42AM on Apr 6th 2008

9. I feel this is the only a way for BOBBY to make money because GOD knows nobody would dare listen to anything he would ever sing again!!! For his family I feel sorry for them because he must of not thought of how this would effect them .AS FOR ALL FUTURE CELEBRITY BOOKS LETS GET SOMETHING THAT WILL UPLIFT OUR PEOPLE INSTEAD OF SETTING US BACK!!!!!!!

stacey at 10:16AM on Apr 6th 2008

10. hey Bobbie what type of Punk are you cause u sure aint a REAL MAN. And you upset cause u can't spend Miss Houston money and a women can do more postive things for her than u ever did. BJ

Bj at 12:30PM on Apr 6th 2008

11. Well I think that Bobby Brown was hot back in the day. When I say hot I am taking about he was a great performer with New Edition and solo. Iam sorry that he let the fame, industry(drugs, sex) and community he was raised in take control of his life the way it has. He had soo much going for himself. For years I followed the life and stories about Whitney and Bobby. I do admit that I was always curious about how their lives evolved into what it had become. I wondered were all the pain in their lives emerged from. Overall, what life events, experiences, persons, places or things that contributed to their life of pure madness. Not because I wanted to pook my noise in their private life, but because I am Social Worker. I work with Whitney Hustons and Bobby Brown's every day. You know how many whitney and Bobby's are in our families and communities? There life isn't a suprise to me. I love to look into human behavior. I will never get the opportunity to counsel Whitney and Bobby so the book just may provide me with some insight to the things I described above. I don't think it's cool he's putting her business out like that, and he will regret it later I am sure. I really I am glad that they both have gotten themselves together, specifically for self, children and family.

Ann at 12:36PM on Apr 6th 2008

12. I'd like to know how in heck is Bobby Brown setting the Black race back by writing his autobiograpghy? Come on people...It's entertainment! As far as Bobby trying to bring down the mother of his child, those lesbian rumours about Whitney were in full-force waaaay before those two got togther. Ever stop to think that maybe Whitney used Bobby? Big deal if she paid off the man's back child support and other debts. Those lesbian rumours ceased only after Whitney's marriage to Bobby Brown which only helped Whitey's career. Ya'll know how we Black folk loose our mind's over anything "gay"),so maybe these two secretly saw their union as a "win/win" situation.

Bottom line...It's a tell all book about an entertainer not fine literature (take it with a grain a salt). "Bring it down a thousand" people and take the book for what it is..."fluff".

Mike at 12:46PM on Apr 6th 2008

13. Whether Bobby should or shouldn't have written the book is really pointless to comment on. Someone is going to buy the book because they want to know what happened. I do agree that Bobby needs to get his life on track and do something positive. One thing that I will say is that we can't say he was the devil and Whitney was the angel. We weren't in their home, and we didn't see how Whitney is behind the cameras. I've seen an episode of their show and Whitney's behavior was worse than his. They both need to get their lives together.

Mizz_J at 1:28PM on Apr 6th 2008

14. I think that Bobby Brown is exploiting his relaionships solely to make a dollar. It's okay to make money, but it is totally sad to make money off someone who made a life with you and became the mother of your child. I'm sure that Whitney did alot of immoral things but to compare with superhead is stooping alittle too low. Bobby Brown benefitted from Whitneys' fortune, as well as his family, and look at the appreciation he has shown. Despictable, totally! I truly hope this book becomes a flop, just like Bobby.

Cheryl Jones at 1:35PM on Apr 6th 2008

15. Bobby Brown is a f*cking loser.
