Clinton's Wright Stuff

Posted Mar 25th 2008 11:43PM by Faye Anderson
Filed under: BlackSpin, Elections, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton

It's impolitic to talk about religion at the water cooler. But that was before the Rev. Jeremiah Wright appeared in an endless loop on Americans' TV screens and computer monitors.

After sidestepping questions about the Wright controversy, Hillary Clinton waded into the racial water during a meeting with the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review:
He would not have been my pastor. You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend.
Clinton noted her denunciation of Don Imus' racially offensive comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team:
You know, I spoke out against Don Imus, saying that hate speech was unacceptable in any setting, and I believe that. I just think you have to speak out against that. You certainly have to do that, if not explicitly, then implicitly by getting up and moving.
The Obama camp fired back. In a statement, campaign spokesman Bill Burton said:
After originally refusing to play politics with this issue, it's disappointing to see Hillary Clinton's campaign sink to this low in a transparent effort to distract attention away from the story she made up about dodging sniper fire in Bosnia. The truth is, Barack Obama has already spoken out against his pastor's offensive comments and addressed the issue of race in America with a deeply personal and uncommonly honest speech. The American people deserve better than tired political games that do nothing to solve the larger challenges facing this country.
Yes, Barack Obama's "uncommonly honest speech" was largely well-received . But that's not the end of the story. According to a CBS News analysis:
Despite Obama's attempt to defuse the issue of race in his major national address last week, it is unlikely he did so. In a CBS News follow-up survey after Obama's speech, his overall favorability ratings were unchanged, and the speech appeared to have made as many viewers less likely as more likely to support him. While those who followed the speech gave it very positive ratings, alleviating the long-held and entrenched racial concerns of some voters will require much more.
So like it or not, Wright will remain a drag on Obama's candidacy.

1. Oh, Senator Hillary Clinton, you choose Former President William J. Clinton..insist marraige family?
AND YOU CHOOSE HIM..............PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

Bea at 4:08PM on Mar 26th 2008

2. Hillary must have forgotten that they invited the Reverend to the White House for spiritual guidance during the monica lewinsky scandal, This shows how big a hypocrite she is.

Sears at 4:37PM on Mar 26th 2008

3. Hillary Clinton did not comment on this issue last week when they were running it like a commercial, so why bring it up now? She said that she "misspoke". No mam, the word is "I lied". Obama needs to get to the point and lay out what it is that he intends to do once in office. And he needs to make his points storng, hard and clear.

MsT at 5:16PM on Mar 26th 2008

4. Hillary will do what ever it take to get the nomination. She's depending on something outragous to come out of the Obama camp , something like commiting adultry like Bill or having telephone conversatioins with Bin Ladin . That is the only way she can win this nomination . She'a a compulsive liar ( under enemy fire on her visit to Bosnia ) . What else has she lied about . Changing the rules in the middle of the primary election. She has really lost it .

vince at 7:12PM on Mar 26th 2008

5. I read somewhere that Hillary's pastor is in agreement with the Rev.Wright. Had anyone else any knowledge of this?

peni at 7:18PM on Mar 26th 2008

6. Hillary has forgotten, she started this race card, but of course it is a mistake. I agree with Sears, Hillary is doing to Rev. Wright, like Bill did to Jessee Jacksons, in his comments. It looks like black american's are only to be used by them,to their own selfish benifit and when you are no longer use to them, their true color's come out. I wish Jessee Jackson and Rev. Wright would come foreward and comment on this issue of the Clinton's. The Clinton's have lied and continue to lie, and what message are we sending to the rest of the world. We support liar's and trader's?

WANDA RICHARDSON at 8:09PM on Mar 26th 2008

7. To Peni # 5 I have never heard that Hillary and Bill had a church home. You can usually find them all up in our Black churches when they want something from us, or when they want our vote, or when Bill is in trouble. I think she forgot about the letter and photo of Bill and Rev Wright when Bill was seeking prayer when he had messed up with Monica. And now she has the nerve to say that she would not choose that church or that pastor? And then she flat out LIED about her trip to the war zone talking about she was ducking bullets! WHAT A LIAR. STAY STRONG BARACK WE GOT YOUR BACK AND YOUR FOXHOLE TOO. WE LOVE YOU!!

Omaha Ne Patricia at 8:17PM on Mar 26th 2008

8. Hillary said that her statements that she made about the being in Bosnia under "Sniper" attack that she "Misspoke". She said she was "Tired" and had a long day? I am not trying to hear that! It was a "LIE"! She said this, not once, but 2 or 3 times on other occasions. If you watch the clips of her making that statement on Tuesday, she is "laughing" like it was a "FUNNY" time in her life, stead of a SERRIOUS time in her "LIFE"! I AM NOT BUYING IT AT ALL! This was one of Hillary's Political Tactics to get the topic off of her and bring up the Rev. Wright's issue all over again on Obama! Why didn't she answer the question when it was first asked a week ago? It's not more so, what she said but "When" she said it yesterday? Why now? She didn't have to be like some politicians and answer? She could have chosen NOT TO ANSWER! MY POINT!

Obama went straight to NC, looked refreshed, and ready to speak about the IMPORTANT issues that WE OUR FACING TODAY! I am voting come APRIL 22, 2008 and I know, Obama will win this one! We still have other delegates and super delegates that haven't decided on who they want. I know people in the "BURG" are going to vote and stand up for OBAMA!

Hillary simply cannot tell the truth. Here's her scorecard:

Admitted Lies

• Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. (She was in bed watching it on TV.)
• Hillary was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. (She admitted she was wrong. He climbed Mt. Everest five years after her birth.)
• She was under sniper fire in Bosnia. (A girl presented her with flowers at the foot of the ramp.)
• She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the futures market. (It didn't cover the market back then.)

Whoppers She Won't Confess To

• She didn't know about the FALN pardons.
• She didn't know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that Clinton granted.
• Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error.
• She didn't know that her staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so.
• She didn't know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost $700,000 more than she reported it had.
• She opposed NAFTA at the time.
• She was instrumental in the Irish peace process.
• She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda.
• She played a role in the '90s economic recovery.
• The billing records showed up on their own.
• She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke.
• She was always a Yankees fan.
• She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons).
• She negotiated for the release of refugees in Macedonia (who were released the day before she got there).

With a record like that, is it any wonder that we suspect her of being less than honest and straightforward?

VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT TO ATTENTION ON HILLARY!

I watched MSNBC segment around 1:30 P. M. on "MSNBC Opens The Door on Hillary's Participation". Please read and watch the clip. A person by the name of, "Joshua Green" on the show today had been doing research about Hillary's campaign and history. This person also said, that "Hillary" was or is belonged to a church that are CONSERVATIVES and are the FAR RIGHT!
Somebody in the Obama Camp and the Media needs to check the CHURCH she is or was going to! I'm sure a lot of LIES will come up about her and the REAL TRUTH!

I just want everyone to play fair in this race and be UNITED not DIVIDED in any way! Democratic's have to show the Republicans that we can win this election!

"OBAMA 2008"

Ms. Unique at 9:36PM on Mar 26th 2008

9. ...as another blogger says, hillary chose to STAY with bill...the "true church" is not the pastor, it is the body of Christ...my thoughts:..IF hillary was a serious student of the Word...she would know that you don't leave the body of Christ...because of someone saying something that you disagree with...my Lord, people would be walking in and out of churchs all week long...

Go Bucks [at least next season] at 9:45PM on Mar 26th 2008

10. Hilliary attitude is if I can't win no democrate will win. She is definitely doing her best at destroying the party. I know more about her now than ever and it gets worse everyday. How can anyone vote for her? she is a disgruntle candidate who have shown her true self. I can't wait to see her taxes and the library donors.

RJ at 10:38PM on Mar 26th 2008

11. totally agree with "Go Bucks [at least next season]" #9. You go to church to get the "Word"! It is your responsibility to get that "Word", read that "Scripture", "Meditate", and "Speak"! You go because you "Believe" in "God", "Trust", and "Have Faith" in him! You might not agree on everything what a minister says but it doesn't mean to leave the church. I am tired of people saying, "Oh, if it was my minister and he said something wrong and I didn't totally agree with I would leave that church. People are to eager to go along with the media in what they say is TRUE (The World's Way), instead of doing and obeying "God's Way" which is the TRUTH!

I know people can get caught in media but come on! Last, I am tired of Fox Network bashing Obama all day and everyday! That network shows the same clips of Rev Wright, over and over again! People aren't seeing the whole thing. But for those that like or for Obama, it didn't change their mind about him becoming one bit! The other networks like CNN are cool and not for that negative media!

Like what Obama said today in NC, everybody is "Welcome" to his church and his church is "Love" not "Hatred"!

I pray that Obama will overcome all of this madness and win victory in the White House!

Ms. Shelly at 12:47AM on Mar 27th 2008

12. People stop this madness. All this mouthing off on Hillary and Barack is bordering on insanity.

Taking This Mess Too Far at 1:56AM on Mar 27th 2008

13. vote democrat not republican.

Just wondering? at 8:26AM on Mar 27th 2008

14. This comment is for "Taking This Mess Too Far" #12.
You said;

"People stop this madness. All this mothing off on Hillary and Barack is bordering on insanity"?

People are allowed to say how they feel about this topic and other issues that are still going on today in America. This is "Therapeutic" to others! This is the TIME to get these issues out in the front! People have the right to voice there own opinion on there favorite presidential candidate on here! People are sick and tired of the same old dirty politics and racism that still goes on today. That's what's wrong with this some of the people in this country, they just want to stay on the "Hush", "Hush", and just let it go and not let voices be heard!

"Hell to the Nawwwwwwwwwwwwwww"! We have the right to voice our opinions just like when the media gives false information and tells us on how they feel and what they feel is the truth! Unfortunately, this is a "Tragedy" that is a "Reality", but we can listen and talk about issues, and come up with solutions to make this world a better place for everybody!
