R&B and pop diva Whitney Houston is finally readying her long awaited return to the music scene.

The 'Greatest Love of All' singer will begin her comeback campaign with a performance at the Caudwell Children's Legend Ball at Battersea Evolution in London on May 8.

"We are thrilled to have an artist of Whitney's caliber to headline the event," the charity's founder, John Caudwell, told Marie Claire UK. "Last year was a huge success and with Whitney's support, we are fully expecting this year's event to be bigger and better than ever."

Last year, Tina Turner headlined the benefit and helped the organization raise more than $2.4 million. The group believes they will smash that record with Houston.

The May performance will be the 44-year-old music legend's first performance since she sang on December 1, 2006 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Houston also duet with her daughter, Bobbi Kristina on the Wyclef Jean-produced hit, 'My Love is Your Love.'

A healthy-looking Houston appeared Feb. 9 at record mogul Clive Davis's Pre-Grammy dinner in Los Angeles.

The singer, who divorced singer Bobby Brown in Feb. 2007 after 14 years of marriage, is currently in the studio finalizing an album for Davis 's J Records, which is slated for a November release.

The album is rumored to feature production by the likes of Akon, R. Kelly and Ne-Yo, among others.

4. Didn't her comeback supposidely start with this secret concert? Judging from that clip, her voice is certainly no where near where it used to be. She talk sings now. Damn shame. Good luck to her though.

5. Although Whitney is gearing up for her comeback word on the street is it's taking longer than expected. Clive Davis known for "perfection" is said to be taking his time and with Whitney's ummm rehabillitaion, don't expect this album to come out until summer/fall 08.

7. I'll Always love Whitney! Good for her, our prayers have been answered. It is within her inner spirit to do this and do it she shall. I believe in miracles and she and her voice are both.

8. I wish Whitney good luck with her comeback, she was once a great performer. I hope Whitney is done with crack, because it wasn't pretty. Also, Whitney doesn't look like she is broke, unlike Bobby. May she had a secret stash for a rainy day.

Teva at 11:50AM on Mar 4th 2008

9. We welcome you back Whitney with open arms! We know with GOD help you will be even better than before!

10. You know I just wonder how in the midst of these new wannabe "divas" careers feel people are more wanting to hear Whitney OVER them. That says a lot about where the music is now as to where it used to be when it was more felt than forced. It's a DAMN shame, huh? Hell some of them just came out with second or third albums and still people are feeling Whitney music HARD. To, me and a lot more feel that music now is a fly by nighter and just DRY as HELL.

JN at 9:39PM on Mar 4th 2008

11. I myself am feverishly awaiting Whitney's return. I have always been a true fan of her work, she had and hopefully still has that beautiful angelic voice which gives you chills when she sings.

I hope not only her comeback is successful, but the rest of her career and life. She deserves this.

Hambone at 12:44AM on Mar 5th 2008

12. I think it's clear to everyone from her radiant beauty, she has already made a comeback to some extent, she looks great! I never one day gave up on her, she's like a volcano, it just happens that today she'll be more active than ever!

Prince at 9:08AM on Mar 5th 2008

13. FIRST AND FORMOST, WHITNEY HOUSTON SERVES A GOD THAT IS TRULY A WAY MAKER! WHITNEY'S MUSIC (AND PERSONAL STURGGLES) HAS ALWAYS TOUCHED THE SOULS OF HER LISTENERS AS WELL AS CHANGED THE LIVES FOR MANY. I CAN'T STAND THE WAIT! "BRING IT WHITNEY!" MAKE US FEEL THE WAY WE DID WHEN YOU HIT THE SCEEN!

DEFOREST BROWN at 10:21AM on Mar 5th 2008

14. Welcome back, Whitney, girl, we have been waiting! Shout to the heavens and sing, girl sing!

Nadine at 11:37AM on Mar 5th 2008

15. Whitney has to comeback. This lady has been given a blessed gift..from god,to sing like an angel. Before she met bobby she sang like an angel and we all were witnesses to her phenominal talent.Jesus what a waste to have endured the slings and arrows of a loser like bobby. To a degree I understand her attraction to a thug like him, because Whitney being from the church, she wanted a bad boy, unfortunetly she chose Bobby who more, or less took her away from us for too long.Let us hope and pray that she will comeback better than before..go girl!
