No Obama Votes in NYC - Is This Some Florida B.S.?

Posted Feb 19th 2008 11:00AM by Madison J. Gray
Filed under: BlackSpin, Elections, Barack Obama

Did the New York City election officials pulled a jack move on Sen. Barack Obama on the night of the Super Tuesday New York State Primary?

The New York Times found that in 80 of NYC's 6,106 districts, Obama did not get a single vote.

This includes Harlem's densely African American 70th district, as well as others where black votes weigh heavily. Sen. Hilary Clinton won in the state where she serves as junior U.S. Senator, and of course New York City is the most populous city, and gave her the victory.

It's not like Obama doesn't get support there. ...

You should see the Obama flyers on the doors of damn near every business in Brooklyn. I ain't seen so much as Clinton graffiti on the subway. So how is it that whole city voting districts come up with no votes for Obama?

For example, in the 70th district the count favored Clinton 141-0, but when they checked it out the count was revised to 261-136. In one Brooklyn district, the Times reports, the score was 118-0, but it was later changed to 118-116.

I smell some Florida B.S. going on here, and that whole debacle pissed me off so much I was ready for war. But whether you're in New York, California or Guam, as an American citizen you have the right to hold your election commission's feet to the fire. Google your state, county or municipal election commission so that you know how to contact them and know who the officials are so that you can make sure your vote is counted.

Don't let ANYONE get in the way of your most fundamental right as an American. Too many people have given their lives so that you can have your say in where the country is headed. And damn the "electoral college decides it all" argument. The electoral college generally pledges their votes with the popular vote. In 2000, Bush Inc., went to get their patrician cronies on the Supreme Court to hand them the White House.

If you take a stand at the ballot box, you can prevent that garbage from ever happening again.

Check out this embed from Videojug on making sure your vote is counted. And then MAKE SURE YOUR VOTE IS COUNTED (I'm especially talking to you Texas and Ohio).

1. Being that a number of districts were recounted and the results changed, if I worked in Obama's camp I would have requested that New York as a whole be recounted.

2. Madison, you wrote "... but when they checked it out the count was revised to 261-136." What process are you referring to. Was it a recount? Do you know what kind of election equipment resulted in these discrepancies? How did you learn of this - can you refer to another report?

Thanks.

3. It is strange that in 80 of NYC's 6,106 districts, Obama did not get a single vote.

4. Not only is it unlikely Barach would receive not one vote it is impossible, that would mean there was no race in those districts at all. I have heard of landslides but that was a man slide ( of the ballot).

bringthegold@yahoo.com at 7:14PM on Feb 21st 2008

5. This is very worrisome, not just during the primaries, but most certainly in the general election. We've already seen the election stolen from Gore in Florida. We can't let it happen again - the stakes are too high.

Angie at 2:20AM on Feb 22nd 2008

6. If that's true, why isn't someone from Obama's campaign looking into it and why has the media ignored it?

8. I WOULD HATE TO SEE ANOTHER FLORIDA AND OHIO. THIS SIGNALS TO ME THAT THERE ARE SERIOUS CRACKS IN THE SYSTEM AND IF THIS CONTINUES ON, THERE ARE DEEP INNER WORKING TO MAKE SURE CERTAIN THINGS ARE NOT DONE. WHO IS PAYING WHO? I THINK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE NOT STUPID AND NEED TO CONTACT THERE CONGRESS REPRESENTATIVES AND MAKE THEIR DISPLEASURE KNOWN AND NOW IS THE TIME.

PEGGY at 10:24PM on Feb 22nd 2008

9. THE REASON WHY HILLARY WON MICHIGAN IS BECAUSE THE NAMES OF BARACH OBAMAS AND JOHN EDWARDS WERE LEFT OFF THE BALLOTS.THAT IS WHY THE DELEGATES DON'T COUNT WHEN THE PRIMARY WAS HELD AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. THE OBAMA CAMP IS OUTRAGED. THE STATES MICHIGAN AND FLORIDA ARE SO FAR RESTRICTED FROM THE PRESIDENTIAL CONVENTION. THIS HAS TURNED INTO A COURT BATTLE THAT IS STILL ON GOING. THE CLINTON CAMP FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD GET THOSE DELEGATES ANY WAY WHICH WOULD NOT BE FAIR. MAYBE OBAMA HAD DELEGATES THAT WERE NOT ACCOUNTED FOR. WAKE UP AMERICA AND PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT IS HAPPENING. MAYBE THE REST OF THE PRIMARY STATE LOSSES ARE COMING BACK TO BITE HILLARY AND BILL IN THE ASS.

10. I am 71 yrs old and was born in Harlen and raised in South Bronx (Jennings Street at Prospect Ave/Boston Rd. I raised my children (7) in Syracuse, NY and am now a resident of Florida (15 yrs). Like most of you I too found it very strange that Clinton won over Obama in NY. Well in Syracuse, I worked in the election process, and was even elected to it's City Board of Education. I also registered relatives, friends, and other fellow Syracusians to vote pretty much on a yearly basis for several years and I strongly have suspected that voting precinct vote tallies per candidate are sometimes rigged to favor particular candidates. Therefore, I strongly suggest that the Democratic Party, a strong unbiased organization or both needs to be required/made to demand a recount. I hope this website will agree with my suggestion. Thanks for reading my message.

11. Something is foul in NY state. There is not way in hell that a person would get zero votes in a whole damn state.

15. Does anyone else find it strange that uhBAMA made time to denounce Farakhan's endorsement of his campaign, but has not yet gotten around to dong the same for his endorsement by the Ku Klux Klan? WHAT A RAT. WHY DIDN'T HE GET MORE VOTES IN NEW YORK? IS THERE SOME KIND OF FLORIDA MESS GOING ON? HELL NO !!! New Yorkers apparently are able to distinguish between real life and bullshit. The Messiah has not yet come back people. Meanwhile, uhBAMA WORSHIPPERS, please accept these loathings to suck on in Florida.
