Vivica A Fox: Sex Tape Scandal is Hot Blogesphere Mess

Posted Jan 7th 2008 9:09AM by Karu F. Daniels

Vivica A. Fox in sex tape scandalDon't believe the hype – or the unscrupulous internet reports – about the hot new sex video starring Vivica A. Fox.

A rep for the 'Kill Bill' actress denied the buzz that has been burning up the new media scene for the past few days.

"It is not true," Fox's tight-lipped attorney Lita Richardson told The BV Newswire late last week.

On Jan. 2, some legitimate media outlets picked up on an item by popular Atlanta-based blogger Sandra Rose, who wrote how an "apparently inebriated" Fox was allegedly caught on camera performing fellatio on an "man," who "surreptitiously taped" the act and promptly emailed the footage to his friends.

To add insult to injury, the story took on a life of its own with an additional additive about how the 41-year-old star of films such as 'Booty Call' and 'Two Can Play that Game' was forwarded the tape by friends and passed it onto the Atlanta police department.

Atlanta radio personality Porche Foxx (an alleged friend of the actress) found herself embroiled in the mix and talked about it at length on her of V103-FM radio show last week, revealing that the brass of the CBS Radio-owned station informed her that detectives were seeking her. "I learned the greatest lesson about the news when I became the news," Foxx said.

The brazen broadcaster then called a local policeman while live on the airwaves and explained her involvement in the whole fiasco, admitting, "I never said Vivica Fox made a sex tape. I said 'friend of mine' and 'it's been rumored.'"

"I didn't even mention Vivica Fox's name ... I'm not sure how this took off but it did."

On Jan. 4, the former 'Dancing with the Stars' castoff's alleged publicist Kim Tumey (the self proclaimed "Celebrity Broker") sent an email to Rose stating: "Currently, Ms. Fox is a client of mine and has no boyfriend as reported by many news outlets nor has Ms. Fox been involved in any sexual acts that would ruin her reputation. FYI: For the record I understand that Porsche [Foxx] wants to be the next Wendy Williams, so do what Wendy does and check your sources. So, just because someone claims to be friends doesn't make it true."

Wow. What a way to start a new year.

Jamie Foster Brown, the publisher and editor-in-chief of Sister 2 Sister magazine – which features Fox as its cover subject this month – seemed shocked by the news when The BV Newswire contacted her. "I haven't seen the tape [but] this is a damn shame."

Brown, a former BET producer turned magazine publishing magnate, is one of the progenitors of black celebrity gossip: the glossy monthly magazine celebrates its 20th anniversary this year of publishing.

"Privacy is dead," she admitted, speaking on a more broad level. "Today you have to feel that whatever you do bad or good in private you have to assume lots of people are watching ...The Rodney King beating signaled a new day. Cops beat folks in private before, and now anybody on any corner or bedroom can have a video going."

"Vivica's a grown woman," she added, saying that she doesn't believe the reports. "This is too scary. Hopefully this won't damage her business career."

1. People,
-50% of Black kids drop out of high school
-Nearly half of all prisoners are Black
-6 out of 10 homicide victims are Black
-Black infants die at birth at a rate 3 times that of
Whites
These kind of gloomy statistics go on and on and on.

The point is why the (F) should any of us care what Viveca Fox (Viveca A. Fox) or any of these celebrities do. Get over it and focus on serious stuff that matters.

2. My curiosity got the best of me and I saw the alleged tape of Viveca on MediaTakeOut.com. I don't know if it's her or not...it's hard to tell. Honestly, from the angle the photo was taken it could have been anyone.
I will say that if it is not her she should ignore the allegations and go on about her day, business as usual. If it is her, I'd suggest that in the future she'd choose her love interests more wisely and try to stay away from the lame, juvenile and immature characters who think it's cute to share such an intimate moment with his buddies for the sake of bragging rights.

3. Dang, it it possible to look at any blog without reading some bs black stats. I've got one 90% people that look at this blog don't want to read that.

4. My apologies for misspelling Vivica's name

DarkNLuvly at 12:17PM on Jan 7th 2008

5. Luke, you are absolutely and positively 100% correct, and I agree with you. Mindlessness is a virtue. Stats don't matter. What are Vivica Fox's (Vivica A. Fox, scuse me) stats? 33-22-34? or 38-24-36? How long was the jones she was doing? Uh, how long did it take? I'll bet even DarkNluvly would be curious to know that. Meanwhile, 90% of the people that look at this blog would rather see 150 photos of Vivica Fox (Vivica A. Fox) doing her alleged thing, rather than 150 photos of Africa in one of it's darkest moments. End of story.

6. i am so sick and tired of people trying to destroy sister v's career.it just goes to show you that you ant trust anyone. vivica is a wonderful person and a wonderful actor. there are just a lot of haters out there that just cant stand to see successful black women anywhere and in any profession. my love and respect to you vivica.be well and live long. big mike miller from the bronx.

BIGMIKE at 12:50PM on Jan 7th 2008

7. If the rumor is found to be true about the actress, Vivica A. Fox--why would this ruin her career? Photos surfaced about Beyonce Knowels while she was intoxicated, female actress have posed nude for playboy after having their babies. Ms. Fox is an adult! If the two persons in this so called sex tape were both adults--so what. Let the people remember the good and not embellish the lies and reputations of another. Rememeber that Vivica A. Fox is a doting mother, hard worker and model to both young and of age black actresses.

8. What's up with these punk-assed men kissing and telling? If I had been fortunate enough to be getting my jimmy waxed by Vivica, wouldn't NOBODY have known but me, her, and God.

Donald Lee at 2:10PM on Jan 7th 2008

9. Just like the most of you guys have said; Ms. Fox IS GROWN. And grown folks do what grown folks do. It is good to know that IF this is true 'home girl' does know HOW to take care of BUSINESS in more ways than...

sistereve at 2:11PM on Jan 7th 2008

10. I think Vivica Fox is trash, but its still her business what she does as an adult and with whom.

Samezmom at 2:28PM on Jan 7th 2008

11. Can't people discuss the issue without bringing up the person's race? What is it with you people? If this were another Britney Spear's story, would anyone be bringing up her race? No, they'd just discuss her stupidity. Stupidity is a thing which knows no racial boundries.

Jim S in OKC at 2:30PM on Jan 7th 2008

12. She's pretty.

Dee at 2:53PM on Jan 7th 2008

13. Don't you need a career before you worry about ruining it?? All her movies suck, except for Independence Day, even then she was carried by Will Smith.

14. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...

WJ Butler at 3:15PM on Jan 7th 2008

15. The poll should have had a 4th option yes, no, maybe, what career. Let's all be honest.... we all would have answered D
