Though it seems like eons, the big movie remake of 'Dreamgirls' happened only a year ago. The sensational Bill Condon-helmed flick made a household name out of newcomer Jennifer Hudson (who won an Oscar for her role) and even netted major accolades for co-star Eddie Murphy, who made his dramatic film debut with the anticipated project. But speaking of drama, the film had its fair share: Music megastar Beyonce Knowles wound up not being eligible to be listed as a contender in the Best Song category at the Academy Awards, after virtually being shut out of major acting competitions for a role many thought she was born to portray. On top of that, the legendary Broadway musical's original star Jennifer Holiday felt that she was being snubbed from some of the 'Dreamgirls' glory that she contributed a large part to. Lastly, music legends Smokey Robinson and Diana Ross didn't offer the greatest reaction to the movie when asked about it in interviews; Motown Records founder Berry Gordy publicly disassociated his legacy from the film, which was allegedly based on his storied music empire.
