IMAN'S GLOBAL CHIC for the Masses

Iman, CEO of IMAN Cosmetics, has entered the fashion game with the launch of IMAN's GLOBAL CHIC Collection, an accessories line done exclusively for HSN. Here, she shares the inspiration behind each item and provides tips on how you can rock her collection like a global star.

Iman for GLOBAL CHIC

It's a cold rainy afternoon in mid-town Manhattan and Iman, CEO of IMAN Cosmetics, is standing sparkling bright like a New Year's celebration. She wears a gold sequined Tory Burch cardigan that covers an American Apparel white tee tucked inside Earnest Sewn boot-cut jeans.

Iman's Global Chic Collection Patent Leather ToteShe stands poised and polished in four-inch Sergio Rossi strappy platforms. Blue smoky shadows frame her eyes, a hint of gold illuminates her brow-bone and her cheeks and lips are kissed with a bronze hue.

Not the exact picture of a mogul.

But then again, Iman, wife of rock star David Bowie, and mother of two, is no typical businesswoman.

The makeup maven who dared to place the beauty of women of color on a high pedestal with formulations that are not only spot-on in regards to complementing the subtle shades of light, medium and deep complexions, but are also technologically sound, is ready to bet on another chance: That women everywhere would want a piece of her personal style.

Patent Leather Tote from Iman's GLOBAL CHICAnd why wouldn't they? As a card-carrying member of the fashion world's gliterrati, and the longtime muse of designers such as Yves St. Laurent, Versace, Donna Karan and Calvin Klein, certainly Iman is more than qualified to place her diamond-laced fingers into the fashion game.

Gathered today to share this new venture -- IMAN'S GLOBAL CHIC -- an accessories line inspired by her real-life gems done exclusively for HSN, and most retailing for between $49.95 and $129.95, the Somalian icon glows while sharing the intimate stories of each item's inspiration.

Her excitement is contagious. This isn't a line pulled out of nowhere. It has history. Iman and David Bowie's history.

All items are available on HSN.com, starting on Saturday, December 15.
Tune-in to HSN on Saturday December 15th at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, December 16 at 9 a.m. and at 6 p.m. to see Iman and more of her GLOBAL CHIC collection.

4. I really love her makeup. It so nature looking. But I heard she is changing the ingredients to make a cheaper product....Oh say its not so!

5. Black women are like fine wine--they get better with age and time. IMAN looks STUNNING! I'm almost in my fifties, too, and my husband saids that I still look as though I'm thirty-something. Thank God for the melanin! Proud of you IMAN.

6. Iman is as beautiful as ever, and I'm glad to see she's still married to David Bowie (one of my favorite white artists). This is one Hollywood marriage that's standing firm (but they don't live in Hollywood do they). Eitherway, best of luck to her and her new business venture.

7. I agree whole-heartedly with #1 and #6...people often
comment on how youthful my appearance is at age 49 - I hope
I look as good at 52 as Iman does....talk about representing! Her
accessories line stands to be just as successful as her make
up....you make a sista' proud, girl!

8. Elissa, you're right about the change in the ingredients -- but it only affects the line you buy in stores (you can still get her "pure" line from Color Me Beautiful -- I checked into this over a year ago when I first heard the rumor about the change).

9. I can't wait to see it. I will buy her line in a heart beat. She still looks so FABULOUS. I am so proud of her! She has worked so hard to get what she has and deserves all the success in the world. She has reached the top and continues to rise. Oh and I love, LOVE, her husband too!! What a beautiful couple.

12. WHERE IS HER FIRST DAUGHTER WITH SPENCER HAYWOOD/

MS NYINVA at 12:07AM on Dec 15th 2007

13. Actually, "Color Me Beautiful" is phasing out Iman collections. Last time I contacted them they tried to persuade me to purchase from either Flori Roberts or the Patti Labelle Collection. I would not mind trying either, but Iman makes the only powder suitable to my skin color - Clay Medium Dark! You can purchase actual Iman products at walgreens.com. I purchased Iman products from Walgreen’s about five months ago and I really cannot say that the quality of the makeup is inferior. The items I purchased appear to be of the same quality of the make-up I purchased at JC Pennie's and "Color me Beautiful. I have no complaints. Thanks Iman.
