Antrel Rolle Doesn't Buy 'Random' About Sean Taylor's Death

Posted Nov 29th 2007 11:30AM by Cheryl Thompson
Filed under: Casually Obsessed

Antrel RollePolice investigating Sean Taylor's death say they haven't found evidence that would indicate the Washington Redskins safety was targeted or connected to his assailant.

Miami-Dade police director Robert Parker called it "more like a random event."

However, Taylor's childhood friend and Arizona Cardinals cornerback Antrel Rolle thinks otherwise:
"This was not the first incident," Rolle said. "They've been targeting him for three years now."

Rolle said many former "friends" had it in for Taylor, who was trying to build a more stable life.

"He really didn't say too much," Rolle said, "but I know he lived his life pretty much scared every day of his life when he was down in Miami because those people were targeting him. At least, he's got peace now." [...]

"They say it was a burglary. It absolutely was not a burglary," he said. "Down South, where we're from, there were many people targeting Sean, a lot of jealousy, a lot of angry people.
Rolle may have some insight on the case (or at the very least, thinks he has), as he and Taylor, whose fathers were policemen in Homestead, Fla., have lived mirroring lives since they started playing football together at age 6. They went on to become University of Miami teammates and NFL first-round draft picks. Both wore No. 21, Rolle for the Cardinals, Taylor for the Washington Redskins.
Granted the police know more about the case, but it's not hard to believe some, like Rolle, are not buying anything "random" about this shooting.

Sean Taylor's Death: Another Statistic?
Almost without exception, every major city in America is seeing record numbers of young people – mostly African American males – die as a result of gun violence.

See No. 21's Greatest Hits
When you hear coaches and teammates talk about Sean Taylor, you get the sense that he was on the cusp of Sean Taylorbecoming a phenomenal well-rounded safety. The proof is in the video clips.

Making Sense of Taylor's Death

It's hard to understand why someone so talented and so young isn't here with us anymore.

2. Never feel afraid to remove yourself from NEGATIVE SURROUNDINGS

You may feel as if your "backing down", but your not, your "stepping forward".

When you do things in the street, when and if you are able to get free and find sucess these people become like DEMONS coming back from the dead.

They will reach out to get you. They will not let you go. So you never give your BLOOD to the streets.

It's permenant.

Even 50cent and his crazy self he lives in Connecticut rapping about "I will Kill".

He needs to stay away from where ever he feels he needs to do this. He was blessed with the means to do so.

God love you, but God might not protect you if you choose not to do so.

R.I.P. He's finally found true peace from the demons, he shed blood with.

3. Our love and support go to Sean Taylor's family. We must all recognize this incident as an act of gun violence; an act that is repeated far too many times on the streets of this nation. At Unity Health Care, we believe that community violence has become an issue of public health. Our communities need more mental health support and early intervention strategies that deal with the cause of community violence - rather than waiting to pick up the pieces. Whether random or not - acts of violence negatively affect loved ones, demoralize a community and desensitize a nation. We must remain hope-filled regarding the outcome of this horrific tragedy - maybe Sean's untimely death will allow us to focus on issues of community violence that will, in turn, save lives.

4. I empathize with the family of Sean Taylor. I pray that in time, the healing powers of Our Lord Jesus Christ will take hold of their hearts and they will find peace in knowing their loved one has done something we all have to do one day. It also goes to show you that not only are our young Black men dying in the ghetto, they are dying in financially prosperous situations also. May GOD bless us all.

7. I submit my complete condolescences to the taylor family, however, I wish to add that if most of our black men and women will educate themselves get married prior to bringing children into the world we will have less robberies and killings. if black men and women will hold tightly to his/her child when their relationship with a person end instead of hopping in bed with another mate quickly we will have less robberies and killings such as this for reason that by you all not educating yourselves before you have a child you are setting that child up into a world of FAILURES neglect poverty lack where he/she have no other options but to rob steal kill sell drugs and join gangs get jealous of the next man nice car new sneaks tight gear. BLACK FOLKS WAKE UP EDUCATE YOURSELF TRAIN UP YOUR CHILDREN AND STOP ALLOWING THEM TO RAISE THEMSELVES. PARENTS SHOULD ALSO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR CHILDREN'S ACTIONS. STOP BRINGING THESE CHILDREN INTO THE WORLD IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER THEM BUT WELFARE AND FOOD STAMPS. In my aspect the parents of these ignorant untrained 4 men should also be held liable. the BIBLE says train up your child. put the crack and beer down. Your kids are not our responsibility training began at home if you train them up BIBLICALLY we will have less robberies and killings

8. LET ME TELL U SOMETHING I FEEL THAT WHAT EVER THAT YOUNG MAN KNOWS IF HE KNOWS, HE WILL BE MAN ENOUGH TO TELL, WHEN YOU KNOW A PERSON AND GROW UP WITH THEM U LEARN THEIR PERSONALLITIES AND SOME WHAT KNOW WHEN SOMETHINGS NOT RIGHT, A PERSON MAY NOT TELL U ALL OF THEIR BUZZNESS, BUT BEING A FRIEND A GOOD FRIEND U CAN FEEL WHEN THINGS ARE NOT RIGHT, SO LEAVE ANTREL ALONE AND LEARN TO BE A FRIEND TO SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOURSELF.

11. Antrel was saying jealousy and hate by friends, black or white? These days "our friends" tend to be white. I really hope he's not saying that our black people would go to that length because of a persons lifestyle!
