Top 11 Oprah Blunders of '07: No. 9

Posted Nov 10th 2007 11:52AM by Marcus Vanderberg

The Secret

Winfrey endorsed the controversial self-help program 'The Secret' in 2007.

Despite amazing sales, partly thanks to Oprah's endorsement, critics argued that Winfrey's stamp of approval was irresponsible given her power.

Critics argue that 'The Secret' trivializes important decisions and promotes a quick-fix material culture.

2. She can say and do whatever she wants and the Secret is one way to encourage people to take responsibility for what happens to them.

3. Get over it! Oprah is to the world as much as Princess Diana. She spreads love and wisdom as well as caring and sharing. The Secret is a realistic concept so just get over your self. Don't like it? Don't read it!

4. PLEASE get a life!!! Oprah's is doing her best to help others and inspire others to live a positive fulfilling life. She's a human being and she's not perfect. Thou, who has no sin, cast the first stone!!! Frankly, some people are just jealous that this young black lady is able to touch so many lives. The time and energy you’re spending/ wasting trying to break or destroy this lady you could be spending taking notes from her and improving your own lives.
God Bless you all, including the negative and evil and jealous souls.

8. The Secret is wonderful, and so is Oprah. She goes against the grain, and follows her own Drum Beat. More of us should trust that, and The Secret shows us that. It would not be a "secret" if certain people wanted to keep it that way for their own powerful FEARS!!!!

Jenny at 8:42PM on Nov 10th 2007

9. I don't care who it is that does things for the betterment of mankind, there are always jealous critics. Oprah you keep up the wonderful work and bull to the critics.

glenice pieske at 8:44PM on Nov 10th 2007

10. Oprah is a fraud. She is a terrible person in reallity. She is a smart business woman and has manipulated middle aged women for years. When will people realize she is so awful?

alex at 8:47PM on Nov 10th 2007

11. Oprah: I love your show. You are really special and I stop everything each day to see it. You are so beautiful and we learn a lot of good stuff you do to help people. God Bless!

14. Oprah gave Forty Million dollars to create a haven where young black African girls could be educated. The people she trusted let her down. As a conservative WHITE man who is 60, I like Oprah and admire her for many reasons.

Having said that, I think the scandal at the school is much like the scandal in the Catholic Church. It is a same sex authority figure with power who abused. Oprah went to Africa, she stood up in front of the world and she answered directly. My only complaint is that she should be saying that this is a black on black crime and that it is a lesbian abuse problem. It is NOT okay to avoid these issues because it may be unpopular. But, anyone who would go after Oprah on this is just using the situation to try to bring her down. She is a genuine good woman; she has given her money WHICH she got the AMERICAN way, she EARNED it! Oprah is an AUTHENTIC American. I hope that she will not personally continue to suffer with this situation. She handled it BETTER than anyone of those morons in Congress ever handled ANYTHING. She handled it better than the morons in the media would have done. Keep supporting Oprah and praying for her.
