WILL SMITH: Back on TV with Big Projects

Don't get excited by the title, or the idea.

Will Smith is not reprising his role in 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' sitcom.

The double Academy Award nominated actor is developing a sitcom based on 'Hitch,' the 2005 hit romantic comedy in which he played a professional "date doctor."

The former hip-hop superstar turned Hollywood royalty is attached as an executive producer of the small-screen version, but will not star, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The project is expected to be pitched to the networks shortly.

'Hitch' -- the TV series -- is set up at Smith's very production company, Overbrook Entertainment. Other shows reportedly in development include: 'Uncle Rudy,' a family comedy starring Big Boi of the hip-hop duo OutKast; 'Raw Materials,' a relationship comedy for ABC; 'Almost,' a supernatural drama for A&E; and 'Gimmee Twenty,' a special starring investment guru Mellody Hobson, at ABC News.

On the big screen, look for the Philadelphia native in Warner Bros. film 'I Am Legend.'

47. I think we need to stop putting people up on pedestals because they have to far down to fall. I admire all of the black brothers/sisters who are staying positive and thereby making a difference for other young people who admire them.

Mean Mom at 8:23PM on Oct 18th 2007

50. PEOPLE NEEDS TO STOP HATING ON WILL SMITH.WHAT U ARE MAD BECAUSE HE IS MAKING MORE MONEY THEN YALL.HE IS DOING THE DAMN THING AND I LOVE HIM 2 DEATH.

HIS #1 FAN at 8:50PM on Oct 18th 2007

51. I don't give a dame Philly or NYC he's a great actor and a pretty good rapper, he wasn't street but he had fun in his rapping days so who cares really. And to get real for a min Queen didn't come from NYC her career started there she is not from there. So that is the place where it all started. And to be real for a min again 50 cent lost to Kanye West on the sales of his CD's so come on now it's not a NYC thing or a Philly thing it is a talent thing, and Will Smith has talent.

Nisey at 9:09PM on Oct 18th 2007

52. Welcome back Will. You are a very talented young man stay true to yourself. Continue to be proud of yourself and keep America proud of you also. Talent is talent regardless of what color you are , or where you are from. God bless you young man.

ella at 9:50PM on Oct 18th 2007

53. I think this is a very good idea also...I wish Will all the luck in the world..even tho it would be a good idea to bring Fresh Prince back...lol..Anyway, I think Morris Chestnut or Omar Epps should be the "Hitch" person...Somebody sexy as hell!!

Camillia at 10:52PM on Oct 18th 2007

54. Yes, haters I love him!!!

chanle at 10:59PM on Oct 18th 2007

55. It's so sad that someone like Will Smith gets hated on, yet thug rappers get glorified and alibied on a regular basis. I guess some people don't realize that it's not a crime or unfashionable to just be a nice family man without a "government" name.

Q at 11:20PM on Oct 18th 2007

56. Why is it alot of people don't like Will Smith, Is it because he is straight up a friendly person and is not a gangsta type?

Garcia at 11:50PM on Oct 18th 2007

57. Hey that's what's up, Hitch was fantastic, looking forward to seeing it extended...much love Will.

K at 12:07AM on Oct 19th 2007

58. I want to be contacted about a personal issue concerning PARENTS OF MURDERED CHILDREN, I am a HUGH fan of the Smith family, and it's great that we'll get to see them more on TV again.

I appauled you Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and all the success, and love your family displays privately and publicly.

Your a true example of happiness.

Benessa Russell at 1:44AM on Oct 19th 2007

59. I agree with Stella... I can't see anyone else as Hitch. PLEASE RECONSIDER!!

Shakeyva at 2:10AM on Oct 19th 2007

60. Smith I wish you all the luck in everything you do and by the way the person who stated that Eve is the princess of hip hop I don't think so, now don't get me wrong I like her and everything but I have heard better.
