STAR JONES REYNOLD: Ready to be 'Tru'

Star Jones Reynolds new Court TV talk show 'Star Jones Show' premieres Aug. 20 and the soon to be revamped network.Though it's not the cover of 'Essence' nor 'Ebony' magazines, Star Jones Reynolds plans to finally reveal the whole truth about her dramatic weight loss in the Sept. issue of 'Glamour' magazine.

"I wrote an article because I really wanted to go as in-depth as possible about the way I've changed physically over the last 10 years on the air," the former co-host of ABC's 'The View' said on Sunday, during a Court TV press conference for the Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour.

Reynolds, who drew ire from her critics when she described her whopping 100-pound-plus weight loss as a "medical intervention" said she has no qualms about viewing photos of herself when she was very super-sized.

"I actually like seeing the old pictures because what it says to me is, 'You never allow yourself to get there again,'" the 45-year-old member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. said. "It was dangerous to me. Very dangerous. I was killing myself."

"I thought that that would be the most effective way to answer everybody's questions," she explained about the feature, titled "Getting Over Myself."

star jones reynoldsPerfect timing considering that Court TV is going through its own metamorphosis: the network will be renamed truTV and move away from its traditional programming.

Kicking off the newness will be Reynold's eponymous talk show, titled 'Star Jones Show,' set to premiere Aug. 20. It's described by the network as a forum for criminal justice issues that intersect with the pop culture world.

On New Year's Day next year, the channel will be officially re-launched. Still offering court coverage for six hours a day, the Time Warner-owned network is also developing series on female bounty hunters in Miami, con artists and life-or-death rescues.

166. How many of us, placed in Stars Position, would really care, what someone said about us. Most of the people commenting, has not even progressed as far as Star Jones. Fat, or Thin, she is sucessful, and doesn't owe any an explanation. Keep up the good work Star, You are your own women, continue to be strong, and do your thing.

betty wilson at 10:17PM on Jul 19th 2007

167. I think Star looks fabulous, and if she feels good then what ever she did to get there is good. Really who cares what everybody else thinks it's all on how she feels.

Sonya at 10:22PM on Jul 19th 2007

168. Star, I think that you take things to the extreme.

Te-Te at 10:30PM on Jul 19th 2007

169. Star while I applaud your desire to get healthy you are too painfully thin. A little meat never hurt anybody. When you hit size 12-14 you should have stopped. I've had the lap-band surgery and went from a size 28 to my perfect dress size 16.. still got a black womans curves and now healthier than ever. Skinny isn't healthy!

Cyn at 10:48PM on Jul 19th 2007

170. good luck STAR

C johnson at 10:52PM on Jul 19th 2007

171. I am very happy for star. She looks not only healthier, but happier. Let go of the big glasses, you're hiding your face. Even though, your face was prettier round. Now you look a bit drawn.

Bonnie Davis at 11:01PM on Jul 19th 2007

172. Star Jones Reynolds you didn't have to reveal to anyone how or what you did to lose your weight especially Rosie O'Donnell and the rest of The View crew. When one door closes another one opens and you exiting the View was done for your good because I believe God had greater plans for you! Praise Him and thank Him that he had released you from those hater co-hosts that you once worked with. The best to you and all that you do in the future! In my view , The View lost a winner!

the diva at 11:01PM on Jul 19th 2007

173. Star Jones, had made a comment previously about her decision to loose the weight. She had quote as saying she wasn't going to be, "No body poster child for the
by past surgery". Her surgery was after Al Roker, surgery. Then she publicly made a comment about the breast reduction. I think Star Jones, look GREAT !!!

judy at 11:03PM on Jul 19th 2007

174. TO me Star Jones was very beautiful large. She is still beautiful now, but the weight loss makes her look to malnutritioned in the face. Being a large women myself it was good to loose it for health reasons. You go Girl!

cc at 11:11PM on Jul 19th 2007

175. Star,

When you were heavier, people used to say that I look just like you. Now that you are thinner, I never hear those comliments. Oh well, good for you. You are beautiful small or large.

Kendrah Shaw at 11:12PM on Jul 19th 2007

176. Star you look great, you have done what White American has been doing for years, and still doing.

I am happy to hear of your success, God Bless You in your new adventures!

Happy James at 11:29PM on Jul 19th 2007

177. I have been heavy all my life..I call myself FULL FIGURE! On thing for sure..Never had a man problem..and I'm a senior and still don't..You have a lot of men out there who prefer FULL FIGURE WOMEN! If you notice most of your FULL FIGURE women have husbands and stay married longer than these little bitty women, who get stuck on themselves and can't keep their families together. If I have to say so myself and others tell me..I am a attractive BBW..Star if this is what you like MORE POWER TO YOU! GO FOR IT.

178. I think Star Jones was beautiful when she was large and I pray that she is healthy now that she has lost the weight. What an inspiration for me. I have 60lbs to dispose of myself. We shouldn't just go for what looks good, we should try and be in the best of health as well. God Bless you Star.

Donna at 11:36PM on Jul 19th 2007

179. Hi Star
You do look well and very healthy,Do you baby girl, do you!

D.anderson at 11:46PM on Jul 19th 2007

180. I like Star thin, she is a beautiful lady either way, but thin is nice and she seem happier, I would like to know how she lost all the weight, not to be nosey but it could help someone make the right choice to get rid of weight, because it turned out healthy for her and not life threatening.
