FLAVOR FLAV: From Toast to Roast

That Flavor Flav sure is something else.

With the success of his hit reality TV franchise 'Flavor of Love,' he rose from the ashes of what was a historical hip-hop career -- where he played the jester-esque hypeman of the politically conscience rap outfit Public Enemy -- to become a pop culture icon.

Now he's getting roasted on Comedy Central -- marking a first for the network.

"We only roast the ones we love -- and the world is clearly crazy about this guy. This event will be full of surprises as Flavor Flav is going to experience a whole new kind of love in this Roast," said Comedy Central's Senior Vice President Elizabeth Porter, of the event that will take place this July in Los Angeles.

Officially dubbed "The Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav," the program will air Aug. 12 at 10:00 p.m.

Flav, legally known as William J. Drayton, joins previous Comedy Central roastees William Shatner and Pamela Anderson.

1. Flav is my TV hero! No, he's a Black Superhero! He's Super Clock! His powers come from his magic grill and his timepiece. He can snag more babes in Vegas with a single smile. He can leap more tall buildings cause he's got bounce. Flav gives all ugly people hope because they just don't get any uglier or more successful. Way to go Flav! You've got real skillz if you can make New York and Monique look good! He's sitting on two gold mine pay per view event. Payback for the spit and Hoops, I did it again.

2. GREAT JOB FLAV. YOUR MY HERO!!!!!!

yvonne at 10:14AM on May 23rd 2007

3. What is the point of this? We do not need any comedians help to laugh at this clown. Plus from his skin tone, he was roasted a long time ago. Flav looks like a Smoked Possum.

tosh at 3:27PM on May 23rd 2007

4. Flavor Flav is a mondern day minstrel show. Do you remember Bamboozled? Chuck D. tried to get him to slow down on the stereotype, but that's all he is now. I think it was the crack. He just don't care anymore.

Margo at 3:28PM on May 23rd 2007

5. Flavor Flav is good for reality tv, but when will William arise on the scene, his heart certainly availed.

teresaholder at 3:56PM on May 23rd 2007

6. Flav is HIP HOP, speak on it boooyyyy!!!!! I know what time it is. PEACE BE TO ALL

THC at 11:02PM on May 23rd 2007

7. i hope flav got thick skin, cause they gonna come hard at him at this roast. expect plenty personal attacks mixed in with humour. flav/will is a sensitive dude and may not survive this so-called roast/lynching. you got it right flav has been bamboozled!!!

papaplus at 7:01AM on May 24th 2007

8. I am no big flavor flav fan but I have to say that it doesnt matter how a person look or is stereotyped, its about a person's heart. When you look at flav/William he has a big heart and is very sensitive and caring. He speaks his mind which is more than I can say for alot of people.

Lelia at 7:59AM on May 24th 2007

9. I think Flav is going to have a good time at the roast. I mean he's a funny dude and he has a sense of humor. I know that they are going to dog him badly but I think he'll come out alright. and just because he's isn't cute isn't a reason to personally attack someone you don't even know. So what he's ugly you probably ain't no prize yourself.

Starlin at 8:03AM on May 24th 2007

10. Flav is a cash cow right now from Strange Love to Charm School. I'm glad the brother is making money!!

Abdue Knox at 8:15AM on May 24th 2007

11. I like Flav, he is doing his thing, just like most of us if we had the opportunity to make some $$$$ on TV like him, I am sure we'll grab it quick; so please let him make his $$$ while he can.
Ain't no need to hate, Flav do your thing; it's yours bro.

Catherine at 8:37AM on May 24th 2007

12. Flav is a clown, the only reason people watched the "Flavor of Love" was because of the girls, they made it a hit.

latrice at 8:44AM on May 24th 2007

13. I hope they limit white people's appearances.. because YOU KNOW what kinda jokes they'll be making..!
Cleaned-up Nigger Jokes..!

G Magic at 10:24AM on May 24th 2007

14. Stop hating on Flav damn let the man do his thing. Those that spoke negetive about him I am sure you are not a prince or princess charming. The person who made the rude comment about his skin. I have only a few words for you: that's what's wrong now with people they are too color struck...... Get a life cause you really aren't to bright. For the color comment you must have been a special ed student at some time in your life.

LadyDre at 10:46AM on May 24th 2007

15. The only type of people that hate on others are those who have some issues with themselves. Thats what's wrong with the world now always trying to find something wrong or something that they don't like about someone...There is a scripture in the bible that talks about people too busy looking at the splinter in your brothers eye when you have a beam in your own eye. STOP HATING atleast flav had enough sense to reinvent/re-create himself causing a buzz around him one more time... You have to respect him for that.
