That's So Faded: Orlando Brown Busted for Weed

Posted Apr 11th 2007 11:08PM by Marcus Vanderberg
Filed under: Everybody Hates Marcus

Kids, don't try this at home.

'That's So Raven' star Orlando Brown was arrested Wednesday for possession of marijuana in Houston after police pulled him over for not having his headlights on.

Brown, who plays Eddie Thomas on the most popular show ever on the Disney network, of course denied how the weed got in the car.

He claims a friend let him borrow the car while he was recording his album in Houston.

Good to see he's been pay attention to the numerous athletes and celebrities who get arrested and flat out deny they had any involvement with the drugs that just so happen to be in the vehicle they are driving in.

"I didn't know what was in the car. That's not what I do. I consider myself a youth activist," Brown said.

Youth activist?

Does that look like the photo of a "youth activist?"

I'm just saying...

16. I do believe also that his disney career is over. Thats a shame, especially if it wasnt his weed. I dont know how much money he makes, or how much he has, but why would he need to borrow anybody's car? He obviously is old enough to drive, so, he should have his own car. But other than that, I hope that he can rebound from this mess.

17. If what he says is true; if it truly was not his car that he was driving, then this tells the world what kind of people a youth activist chooses to surround himself with.

People make bad friend decisions all the time. One learns these lessons mostly the hard way. It's called a life experience. Sadly, based upon his color and the current attention in the media, he will be branded with a stigma that will refuse to go away. He's simply a kid with no prior criminal prosecutions who has fallen into a system that chooses who to forgive based upon what it thinks of the person upon a glance.

One other thing, since when does driving without the headlights on warrant a search of a car? There is no way I would consent to a search of ANY car I was driving, much less, if all I was being stopped for was my headlights not being on.

18. Una...you are totally right...why SEARCH the car just for the lights being off? Why not just issue a warning, or a ticket at best? Sounds like a case of DWB (Driving While Black) to me...

raha at 10:51AM on Apr 13th 2007

23. I'm not surprised at all!! I've seen him in many Disney commercials and ads and he def looked like he was doing sumthing he shouldn't be doing! Unfortunately when u do drugs it tends to show on ya eventually!! So there is no need 4 him 2 deny it or lie. Disney is def not going to let this one slide. Too bad cuz I liked him and the show. ( :

24. I must admit that that is disappointing, mainly in part because he is someone that kids look up to, but we have to realize that kids know and look up to his character on the show, they don't actually know the real Orlando Brown. But on the other hand, he's only 20-21 and statistically how many teenagers and adults get busted with having weed and it is not blown out of proportion?? Which brings me to another point about his age and some of the other Disney stars, half of them are over 21 and thats too old to be in the Disney light; because then when they want to do "grown-up" activities, they are scrutinized so heavily because their fan base are 5 and 6 years old. A perfect example would be the Cheetah Girls formerly known as 3LW. They recently released a rather raunchy video as 3LW while they were also doing the Cheetah Girls...that video was definitely not something I would want my kids to see.

25. well you know how kids lie to cover them selves up so they should be hard on him but not tooo hard nah mean... but still wha he did was wrong

johnone at 2:09PM on Apr 13th 2007

27. WOW they found weed. *rolls eyes* Could have been worse. They could have stopped in on drunk driving charges, or hit and run. Or found a gun. But they didn't.

28. its a shame if its true my ten year old watches his show

UnKnOwN at 10:43PM on Apr 12th 2007

RESPONSE: ..Then, that means you DO care! Correction: "I reaLLy couldn't care Less!"
However, I don't believe that weed was his. He and Raven are excellent actors, and he's a very good singer. But, both of them need to lose weight. Hope he beats the rap.
