KELLY ROWLAND: Finally, A New Date

Kelly Rowland has plans to release her long awaited sophomore album on June 26, 2007, a label rep confirmed today.

Well hot damn.

Almost a year after plans were shelved to release her anticipated solo sophomore opus, Music World/Columbia Records has announced that Kelly Rowland has a new date underway.

Titled 'Miss Kelly,' the set is scheduled to arrive in stores June 26 and feature collaborations with platinum-plated hip-hop superstars Snoop Dogg and Eve.

'Like This' (featuring Eve) has already garnered a listening audience of five million across the country, a label rep confirmed. The track is officially slated to impact Urban/Rhythm radio March 27 and Top 40 April 17.

The Snoop collaboration is titled 'Ghetto,' and is on deck to be the second single to bow from the set.

"I have put my heart and soul into this record," Rowland, who recently served as a guest host of 'The View.' "I am excited that everyone will hear it. I am completely exposed. It's the real me."

'Ms. Kelly' is the long-awaited follow-up to the Destiny's Child gold-selling 2002 debut, 'Simply Deep,' which peaked at #3 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Album chart, and included the smash hit, 'Dilemma,' (a duet with the rapper Nelly). Earning the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, the Patti LaBelle-sampled song spent 10 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100.

3. Yo this year is gonna be kelly year. The new song with eve is 0ff tha hook . I cant wait till here more song from her . watch out world tha next child is coming though.

Zully at 1:23PM on Mar 10th 2007

4. Well it's absolutely no wonder where her management put their focus on; Beyonce. I heard about this album almost two years ago, in her Essence article. It's about time and it more than likely won't include the songs that made Beyonce' cry.

Jason Clark at 2:45PM on Mar 10th 2007

5. Yea,it keeps coming up in conversation how Kelly gets pushed to the side cause Beyonce is the star but hey if shes happy with how things go then im cool with it. I just hope she doesnt let Solange Knowles write anything on this one like she did the last solo project.

6. this girl looks like one of them bulemic white women who model an are jus so scared of gettin fat that shove there fingers down they're throat everyday and starve themselves. and then in the picture her face kinda look like gabrielle union. but on the plus side at least she's doin somethin an not lettin beyonce get all the attention because thats why the group broke up in the first place cuz bey didnt wanna share the spotlight!

Queen Simone at 10:07PM on Mar 10th 2007

7. I like Kelly!!!!! I wont buy Bey's CDs, but Kelly got a fan for life. A fine brown chocolate young lady like that, YES

chas at 11:09PM on Mar 10th 2007

8. Kelly is the least talented of ALL OF THE DESTINYS CHILD singers. And Big Daddy Knowles knows that. If it wasnt for Nelly on that song, a ripoff of patti labelle, it wouldnt have been a hit. I saw Kellys movies. She is SUBPAR. I wish people stop comparing her to teh goddess diva BEYONCE. Even Michelle is a better singer than Kelly. That's why she's about to release her third album. So it's 3 albums for Beyonce and Michelle, and ONE for Kelly. You know what that means after five years? NO ONE CARES. And that song sounds like a Beyonce throwaway. Kelly needs to SIT DOWN HOE!!!

Anastacia Lewis at 7:20PM on Mar 11th 2007

9. Good for her, I hope the album does well. I also hopes she learned forom the first album...let Solange write for someone else... maybe her big sister LOL. Because Solange is equivelant in that family to LaToya in the Jacksons...Not everyone family member has talent. Sooner or later everyone will catch on. Wonder why she didn't write for her big sister's first solo project????

Tonya Hughes at 11:53PM on Mar 11th 2007

10. It's funny how i'm a fan of Destiny's Child but not Kelly. I was so disappointed with her last CD it was Terrible. I wished i hadn't wasted my moeny.
When they went solo the first time Beyonce had a CD with 6 hits on it. She won 5 grammy's, but you didn't hear any rave reviews about Kelly's or Michelle's because they were whack. I know they support each other but Kelly really needs to step up her game, and hopefully she won't put out another CD with only 2 songs you can listen to.

ms_cutiepants at 10:00AM on Mar 12th 2007

11. That song was sooooo wack whoever thought that this song was hot must have been high while listening to it!! I have always been a fan of Beyonce and Michelle because they both can sing! but Kelly needs some voice lessons from Ashanti!!

love77 at 5:01PM on Mar 12th 2007

12. Kelly actually sounds like Beyuonce with a lighter range and not as much power, but to say she is talentless is a stretch. She definetly sings better than Michelle and Ashanti. But if she never sings another note she doesn't have to, because she is a part of the Multi million, diamond star destiny's child. And how many has B sold seperately, and in DC3 as a group?

Chuck at 7:22PM on Mar 12th 2007

13. I think Kelly is very talented. Bey is overrated. Kelly needs to be more confident with her abilities. She has what it takes, but is so unsure of herself. I think that she was the better singer of destiny child. Kelly, stop taking a backseat to bey, you have a much better range than she does. Use it and find yourself new management. Someone who is looking our for your best interest. Current mgmt. will always put you second to bey. Wake up GIRLFRIEND. GOOD LUCK

vickie carebear at 11:21PM on Mar 12th 2007

14. I agree with Chuck, I always thought Kelly was the better singer of the group, not taking away anything from Bey or Michelle. Really listen to Bey sing live, I mean really, listen. Her voice is not that strong and her range isn't either. Compare her live songs with her cd's and compare them, there is a big difference. That show you what a studio can do (this comes from people who works in a studir). Remember when Bey and Jennifer sang "Listen", who had the stronger voice. Not comparing the two because they are different singers, but really listen. By the way, I am not jealous, I love Bey and besides,I am from old school.

Dee at 7:32AM on Mar 14th 2007

15. It's about time! I just hope she does well and finds a new team of managers who will spend as much time and effort on her needed. You know sometimes when you work with friends and so called family it is best to set up shop else where, you deserve it.
