BV Sports Exclusive Coverage of the AFC, NFC Championships
Super Bowl XL Set
Let the buildup to Super Bowl XL begin. Two teams punched their tickets to Detroit Sunday with two dominating performances. The Steelers outmuscled the Broncos, who found no comfort playing at home. For Pittsburgh, the AFC title is a wish come true for one important Steeler. For the Broncos, who were seeking their first Super Bowl spot since the Elway era, the game raised plenty of questions about quarterback Jake Plummer.
Quarterback problems plagued Carolina as well, which was unable to get Steve Smith involved in the offense as Jake Delhomme threw three interceptions. The Panthers were also plagued by injury as third-string running back Nick Goings was knocked out of the game with a head injury. Seattle's dominant defense took full advantage while Matt Hasselbeck and the offense shrugged off the challenge from Julius Peppers and the Panthers defense. It was over early as the Seahawks claimed their first NFC Championship in franchise history. Playoff Report
