Snipes is a black belt in tae kwon do and has trained in martial arts for years, studying karate, kung fu and capoeira. Rogan on the other hand is a four-time state tae kwon do champion. Both are UFC fans. Reportedly there's an offer on the table from UFC and Rogan has already accepted it.
"It's 100 percent true..." Rogan told MMAWeekly.com Radio's
Trigg. "I want the fight and now it's up to Wesley Snipes to accept."
The past few weeks Snipes has been in Rhode Island filming the Mario Van Peebles-directed film "Hard Luck," scheduled to be released in 2006. If Snipes accepts the UFC fight offer, the pay-per-view bout would take place sometime in 2006.
Vince Carter Statue Approved but DissedWhen New Jersey Net
Vince Carter attended Daytona Beach's Mainland High School in the mid-90's, he led the school to a state basketball championship and was named Florida's Mr. Basketball in 1995.
In honor of his accomplishments Volusia County School Board approved the erecting of a life-size statue to be placed in front of the school's gym. The statue was donated by Carter's mother and Carter himself will donate $2.5 million to the school.
But one board member wasn't too happy about the whole situation;
Judy Conte said that the statue sends the wrong message to students.
''There have been many students graduated from that school who have made wonderful contributions to their fellow man -- in science, health, theater. Where are their statues?'' Conte told the Miami Herald. "I think we're saying we value you if you can make a lot of money, and that troubles me.''
How about you take the $2.5 mil, do something with it and be quiet?
The Miami Herald said the sculpture will feature Carter's image holding a basketball and two children at opposite ends of a granite footbridge. It will be inscribed with inspirational words about the importance of education in building a successful future.
Carter, it should be noted, did graduate from college despite leaving early, going so far as to fly back for his graduation ceremony on the same day as the Raptor's Game 7 showdown against the 76ers in the second round of the 2001 playoffs.
T.O. celebrates Birthday in Atlantic CityEven though
Terrell Owens is spending most of his Sundays in Atlanta nowadays, he's still making the news. Owens is banned from the NovaCare Complex for the rest of the season, but somehow some of his former team mates received invitations last week in the form of penalty flags to T.O's birthday party at
Jay-Z's newly opened 40/40 Club in Atlantic City Monday night.
Ahh yes, the good ole days of having birthday parties.
Owens turned 32 last week and invited Giants
Plaxico Burress,
Jeremy Shockey, Cincinnati receiver
Chad Johnson, and Redskin
Clinton Portis to the soiree.
Michael Jordan,
Jamie Foxx,
Beyonce, and
Barry Bonds were also on the guest list.
Owens' agent
Drew Rosenhaus helped organize the party along with Owens' personal assistant.
Also in attendance at T.O's party was
Jessica Simpson,
Will Smith,
Paris Hilton,
Rev. Jesse Jackson, former Bears coach
Mike Ditka and Redskin receiver
Santana Moss. Former Cowboy receiver
Michael Irvin led the party-goers in a rendition of "Happy Birthday" as he held up a birthday cake for Owens to see. After the song, Owens addressed the crowd saying:
"I'm still a Philadelphia Eagle until the end of the year. I love Philly, I love my teammates and thank you to everybody who came here tonight and showed me their love. I ain't ever going to let anyone change me. I will be back!"
Officer Shaq is Sworn InShaq-Diesel has always shared his admiration for law enforcement and wherever he goes, he gets down with the local authorities. For the past year, Shaq has been training for the Miami Beach police reserve officer position and was sworn in last week in a private ceremony. He was previously a reserve officer in Los Angeles while with the Lakers, but joined up with Miami Beach police when he was traded to Miami.
"He made it clear when he decided to come to Miami Beach that he didn't want to just be a poster boy for photo ops, he wanted to get down and dirty and do the job," Department spokesman
Robert Hernandez told the Miami Herald. "He's here to conduct investigations and to make arrests."
Obviously the 7-foot-plus brother can't go undercover or work neighborhood beats because of his celebrity, but he has expressed interest in working with the special victims detective unit to help stop crimes against children on the Internet. Earlier this year, Shaq went "undercover” as a teenage girl in an online chat-room. Now that's scary!
Denver Broncos Trevor Pryce Song in New FilmEarlier this year we spoke to Denver Bronco Trevor Pryce about his upcoming album 'Rap's Dead.' Although the album has yet to see the light of day, one of his songs will get some play next month. President of Fox Music
Robert Hatch selected one of Pryce's catchier tunes 'Private Dancer' from his debut album to use in the upcoming Martin Lawrence film, 'Big Momma's House 2' which opens Jan. 27.
"We were using a Black Eyed Peas song in this scene that we couldn't use," Kraft told
Laura Okmin on FSN's Pro Football Preview show. "It was at that point where I decided to listen to the CDs that had been sent by... a Denver Bronco."
The song will also play during the blooper reel at the end of the film. There's still no word on when Pryce's album will drop. To keep up with his record label and the other bands that Pryce has signed, check out his
