Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria will be the new "wifey" of San Antonio Spur Tony Parker.
As most of you know by now,
Tony Parker popped the question to
Eva Longoria last week and she said yes. That’s right folks; Eva is this close to being off the market. Langoria’s publicist, Liza Anderson, announced the news on Thursday, a day after the proposal.
"Tony flew into Los Angeles last night after his game and surprised Eva at her home as she got off work," Liza Anderson told The Associated Press via e-mail. "The proposal was romantic and perfect. The couple plans to wed in France in the summer of 2007 in what they describe as a big, happy ceremony with lots of family and friends."
Langoria herself went on a Los Angeles radio station, KISS-FM with
Ryan Seacrest and announced it.
"I always promised you that you would hear it first and here we are. I wanted to tell you that Tony and I are engaged," Longoria told Seacrest. "You know Ryan, we aren't going to be crazy hush-hush about this and be dramatic trying to protect it because we are so excited. It's going to be huge and beautiful, and we just can't wait."
Is she referring to
Tom Cruise and
Katie Holmes in that statement? Still, everyone is waiting to see the ring.
"It's pretty big. I got it in L.A. from a French designer I know. I've had it for a couple months," Parker told the San Antonio Express News. "She had no idea. She thought I was flying back with the team to San Antonio. Pop's (Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich) has always been great. He let me go (to Los Angeles) whenever I need to. Whenever I come to see him in his office, he's like, ‘OK, what practice are you going to miss?' Last year, it was the (Screen Actors Guild) Awards. This year, it was a proposal."
Go ahead with ya bad self, Tony.
Carmelo Launches New Energy DrinkCarmelo Anthony has been killing on the court lately, being the top scorer in the NBA right now and all. Now Melo is trying to kill it on the energy drink market. After doing well in Asia, Carmelo’s
C1.5 Extreme Energy Drink is making its way to U.S. shores. The suggested retail price is $1.99 and is said to taste like a mix of
Red Bull and
Mountain Dew.Apparently Melo will get 35 percent of the profits and a portion of the sales will go towards his nonprofit organization, the
Carmelo Anthony Foundation
.
"Melo knows that basketball can be fleeting and that he'd like to position himself so at the time that he's finished playing, hopefully that's a long time from now, but when he's done, he can transition into a business career," Bill Sanders, vice president of marketing for BDA Sports Management, which represents Anthony, told the Denver Post. "That's including developing a film, a record label and various business investments and ventures."
Also look for Carmelo to have a baby and a wife in the next year.
Tiger Introduces Buick EnclaveTiger Woods has been promoting
Buick
vehicles for over six years now and last week was the first chance he got to introduce a new vehicle. At the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Woods joined GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner to introduce the new
Buick Enclave."The new Buick Enclave is just beautiful to look at inside and out," Woods said. "The interior is so comfortable and there's plenty of room for my sticks. I'm really excited for Buick and what the all-new Enclave means for the division and GM."
We wonder if Tiger actually gets paid for this or if he just gets free cars?
Michael Vick Chooses Charities for Matching FineAtlanta Falcons
Michael Vick
was fined $10,000 by the NFL last week for flipping off fans after a disappointing loss to the
Baltimore Ravens
. Vick decided to match the fine and split the money between two charities. Vick is giving $5,000 each to the family of Steven Solomon, an Atlanta firefighter killed in a Thanksgiving Day blaze and to the
Warren Dunn Foundation
, which helps single mothers become first-time homeowners.
"I gave this a lot of thought and realized that there are thousands of worthy charities that could benefit from these funds," Vick said in a statement. "But when I heard that Mr. Solomon died after fighting a fire on Thanksgiving while most of us were at home with our own families, it really touched me."
After he did that, Atlanta won a game! Is there a lesson in all this?
Okafor launches African initiativeLast week
Charlotte Bobcats'
Emeka Okafor announced the launch of his new
One Million African Lives Initiative
in partnership with the
Safe Blood for Africa
. The initiative’s goal is to save one million lives in sub-Sahara Africa over the next five years by reducing the number of HIV-infected blood transfusions given to patients and increasing number of voluntary non-remunerated blood donors.
"In my home country of Nigeria and across the African continent, innocent men, women and children are likely given a death sentence when infected with HIV and other blood-borne diseases through tainted blood transfusions," Okafor said. "Sadly, as pregnant women and children receive the most blood transfusions they are the groups who most often receive the disease this way. Simply testing the blood from one person before it is given to another can help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and save hundreds and thousands of African lives each year."
The One Million African Lives Initiative, working with SBFA, will also support delivery of test kits, Technical training, and clinical education and donor recruitment programs.
