Last week it was reported that San Antonio Spurs’ guard
Tony Parker
and his desperate housewife girlfriend
Eva Longoria called it quits. Langoria’s publicist announced that the couple was going through tough times, to the delight of single men, 99.9 percent of whom are delusional, who think they have a shot with Eva. But Langoria flew to Paris to be with Parker while his squad was participating in the NBA’s Europe Live Tour.
Eva was on hand when a wax statue of Parker was presented at the Grevin Museum in Paris as well. Parker even told the San Antonio News Express that the rumor was false.
"Everything's fine. Couple stuff happened, but that's nothing,” Parker added. “Everything is fine."
Ah well fellas. Vivica Fox is still available, and she needs a new dance partner!
Doug Christie and Family Star in Reality ShowLast week BET debuted
“Committed: The Christies”, a reality show based on the family life of oft-injured NBAer
Doug Christie
, his take-no-shorts wife Jackie and their three children. Why, you wonder, is there a reality show about a dude who hasn’t played ball in over a year and his overprotective wife? Well it started in 2002 when Doug Christie, then with the Sacramento Kings, got into an off-the-court scuffle with the Lakers
Rick Fox; Mrs. Christie jumped into the brawl and started hitting Fox with her hand bag. Talk about having your man’s back.
The incident thrust their relationship into the spotlight and got even more attention when Jackie was present at every single game, home and away, and was constantly by his side. Talk about being handcuffed, but Doug has heard it all.
"Nothing really bothers me, because they've said so much about us," Christie told the Seattle Times. "There was a time when I led with my ego and a lot of that stuff would have bothered me. Being called whipped or soft and henpecked and all of that stuff, it only bothers me when it bothers my wife, when it hurts her feelings. Other than that, that stuff doesn't bother me because, ultimately, I'm not afraid for my wife to be a strong black woman. I'm not afraid for her to have her own voice.”
The first episode showed Jackie quickly tugging Doug away from a female employee of a record store. The rest of the show was pretty much Jackie fussing over a TV. Not much happening.
But Jackie hopes the truth of their relationship gets out there.
"My husband is a public figure and for some reason, they've made me one as well," Jackie told the Seattle Times. "They've reported on our marriage and followed us around and conjured up stories, just digging for everything possible. I think through the reality show, we can tell our side of the story."
Catch that story every Thursday on BET for the next six weeks. Hopefully it’ll be more than Jackie on a phone with Circuit City for 14 hours next time.
NFL Stars Try to Get their Soap Opera OnPlaying football just isn’t enough for many pro athletes; they just have to try a little bit of everything. For
Braylon Edwards
(Cleveland Browns),
Sinorice Moss
(NY Giants) and
Steven Jackson
(St. Louis Rams) having a chance at adding acting to their resume was something they couldn’t pass up.
The three NFL players are competing for a spot on “General Hospital” as part of Fox Sports Network’s “Helmets Off: Tackling Acting”. They will go through an intense acting workshop with acting coach, Scott Sedita, and then display their skills in a screen test in front of a panel of judges who will decide who gets their daytime shine.
Let’s just hope it’s not as bad as Dennis Rodman or Brian Bosworth’s respective performances in “Double Team” or “Stone Cold”.
