Spurs' guard
Tony Parker's, or Tony Pizzle as he wants to be known in the rap world, first hip-hop show was put on ice last week after Parker cancelled the gig for unknown reasons. Parker was going to debut some of his music at Club Antro in San Antonio last week, but made a last-minute decision to shut it down.
"Tony's got an obligation to the NBA,"
BU, a rapper and spokesperson for Parker’s Game Time Family Productions told the San Antonio Express-News. "He canceled at the last minute for personal reasons... Tony made the final decision. If we (perform a show), it's gonna cause a big distraction in the middle of the season. He doesn't want to get Coach Pop or the franchise angry. He's gonna let all of that die down."
Fabolous was apparently in town to perform alongside Parker as well. Maybe Pizzle got cold feet because a real rap star was going to be watching?
Fight Night Video Game Cover ... a New Curse? When EA Sports' boxing game 'Fight Night,' dropped in 2004,
Roy Jones Jr. graced the cover and hasn’t won a fight since. The following year, for 'Fight Night Round 2,'
Bernard Hopkins was on the cover and went on to drop two to Jermain Taylor. Before the cover, Hopkins hadn't lost a fight since 1993.
Now the Golden Boy,
Oscar De La Hoya is gracing the cover of Xbox 360's 'Fight Night Round 3' and has a fight scheduled on May 6 against
Ricardo Mayorga. Is he worried about a new cover curse?
"When I was on the cover of Knockout Kings, I had an excellent year, one of my best years, so I'm hoping I'm going to have another big year now that I'm on the cover of 'Fight Night,'" De La Hoya told
IGN.com.In the midst of his training and running his
Golden Boy Promotions, De La Hoya has found time to play the new game and gives it a thumbs-up.
"What you see in the game is what I experience myself inside that ring," he told IGN.com. "When you have a fighter in front of you and you can see him getting bruised up, you see him breathing through his mouth, he has his mouth open or is lowering his guard or is slouching over, those are the signs that he is ready to get out of there. When you punch your opponent in the game, you can see the rippling effect on the face, the blood gushing out. They've managed to capture boxing down to the smallest details."
Hopefully De La Hoya will perform better than his last fight in 2004 when Hopkins crushed his liver in the ninth round. 'Fight Night' might be good for some simulation training.
