You know that whole Serena Williams calling in "injured" thing to get her acting on? Well, she's being called out on it by the folks in the tennis world. Chris Evert, publisher of TENNIS magazine, wrote a letter to Serena questioning whether she even cares about her tennis career any more.

"I don’t see how acting and designing clothes can compare with the pride of being the best tennis player in the world," Evert wrote. "Your other accomplishments just can't measure up to what you can do with a racquet in your hand. Ironically, I believe that if you fulfill your potential on the tennis court, all your other endeavors will become that much easier to pursue. You could become the most famous athlete in the world. Every magazine will want you on its cover and any door you wish to walk through will be wide open."

Ummm, she already can get on any magazine cover and walk in any door she wants to walk into. But seriously, we'd like to see her back on the tennis court too. Serena's camp has yet to respond to the letter, but you can it in its entirety here.

    Muhammad Ali Sells His Name

The "Greatest of All Time" made a cool $50 million last week. Boxing legend Muhammad Ali sold 80 percent of the marketing rights to his name, image and likeness to CKX Inc., a company that works in development, and commercial utilization of entertainment content. Some of the company’s current clients include American Idol and the image, name and likeness of Elvis Presley.

"This relationship with CKX will help guarantee that, for generations to come, people of all nations will understand my beliefs and my purpose,” Ali said in a written statement. “I am honored to be able to partner with CKX as they continue to grow."

There’s no word on what the company has planned for its new acquisition. Ali however will retain 20 percent of his name and image and it will be operated by his new company, G.O.A.T. LLC, which stands for "Greatest of All Time," of course.

Big Tigger Preps for Fifth Celeb Classic

BET’s Big Tigger is already in the planning stages for his Fifth Annual Celebrity Classic in the Washington area. The event is set to jump off from June 15 to 18 with a celebrity basketball game June 17 and the grand finale event June 18.

    Your Call

Confirmed participating athletes include NBA players Carmelo Anthony , Gary Payton , Kenyon Martin, and Steve Francis; NFL players Terrell Owens, Clinton Portis and Warren Sapp. Other celebs confirmed are Vivica Fox, Steve Harvey, Anthony Anderson, Floetry , 112, and BET personalities, Melyssa Ford, Cousin Jeff and Ray J.

The entire event is a fundraiser to benefit the Big Tigger’s Street Corner Foundation Inc., which hopes to raise at least $50,000 in grants and donations for various HIV/AIDS related charities. Last year’s event raised a whopping $250,000.

Sugar Ray Robinson Gets Stamp Treatment

Legendary boxer Sugar Ray Robinson was honored last week on a new 39-cent stamp. The stamp carries the image of Robinson during his prime fighting years in the late 40’s and early 50’s.

In an interview with USA Today, Robinson’s son Ray Robinson II said the stamp is an "an honor for him, an honor for God and an honor for the community. I think he would have thought (the stamp) was a gift from God.”

For those unaware Robinson was the welterweight champion from Dec. 20, 1946 until Feb. 14 1951 when he moved up and won the world middleweight title for the first of five times. According to the record books, Robinson fought in 201 bouts, winning 174 of them, with 109 of them by knockout. He was named "Fighter of the Century" in 1999. To put that in perspective, Roberto Duran fought 119 fights, Muhammad Ali just 61 fights, Mike Tyson has only fought 58 fights, Sugar Ray Leonard just 40 fights, and Oscar De la Hoya only 41 fights.

And just because you can beat Sugar Ray Robinson in Fight Night Round 3, doesn’t mean you would have had a chance in real life.

Jerome Bettis Elected to Hall of Fame

What’s that you say? Jerome Bettis just retired and he’s already in the Hall of Fame? That's right; Bettis is the first inductee into the Celebrities Bowling Hall of Fame. The former Pittsburgh Steelers running back is a big time bowler once bowling a perfect 300 game during competition and averages more than 200.

"I have bowled my entire life and gained great pleasure and enjoyment from the sport," Bettis told Sports Illustrated. "This is a tremendous honor."

The ceremony for his induction is scheduled for June 28 in Las Vegas hosted by the International Bowling Museum & Hall of Fame. Don’t worry though, Bettis isn't looking to go down the bowling professionally path, he’ll still be doing the broadcasting thing that he was hired for by NBC this fall.
