NBA stars aren’t the only ones taking advantage of communicating with their fans from the safety of a computer. Lately,
Serena Williams has been keeping busy at her
website. Last week she added a plethora of pictures from her nights out in Paris from her own camera as well as just hanging with her girls and family. On her blog, she gave some relationship and breaking-up advice, plus shared how she lost her blackberry in Paris.
“I had to use the bathroom really bad... so the driver dropped me and my friend off at the corner and we walked to the FENDI store. I asked the employee if I could use the bathroom. I went to the bathroom with my purse and came out and looked at a dress. I never set my purse down I just was holding it. Later I tried on the boots and put my purse down. I liked the boots so I decided to buy them. I picked up my purse and noticed my blackberry was missing. So I paid for the boots and looked for the blackberry. It was nowhere to be found. I called it and found out that it was turned OFF. Someone got it and turned it OFF. For all of you out there that have blackberry’s they’re not easy to turn off, you have to purposely turn them off or they will always stay on. Every time I called it went straight to voicemail. Someone took it out of my purse and turned it off so when I called it I would not hear it ring. Who would do this people? I mean really! It’s so upsetting and I feel as though my privacy has been violated!”
Serena also talked about the first time she had wine and also has her current playlist in a sidebar which includes tracks from Kanye West, Mariah Carey and Keyshia Cole. She is now back in the States and is currently training for the Sony Ericsson Championships set to begin on November 6 in Madrid, Spain.
Ben Gordon Makes Donuts for the Team
Every year there’s a new set of rookies who join a professional team. Of course, the vets already on the team love to have fun with them all season long. Most of the time, the rookies are given the task of carrying the vets bags and equipment or being an errand boy running out to get food and whatnot for the team. Case in point, during training camp, Chicago Bulls rookie Joakim Noah has been designated “donut runner” and brings donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts to practice everyday.
Then one day Ben Gordon was trying to give Noah a hard time and went public with his complaint that Noah was going to Dunkin’ Donuts instead of Krispy Kreme to get the donuts. Well that kind of backfired. According to the Chicago Sun Times, Dunkin’ Donuts is actually a team sponsor and word got back to the company and the marketing department about Gordon’s comments. To make up for it, last week Gordon manned the counters of a Chicago Dunkin’ Donuts after practice.
“I'm going to send them back about 10 times because there is a certain way I like my doughnuts,'' Ben Wallace told the paper. ''I'm pretty sure he'll get it wrong.''
Roy Jones Jr. Helps Raise $215K to Battle Cancer
Last weekend Roy Jones Jr. joined thousands of people in Pensacola, Florida for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk. Jones Jr. took the stage before the walk and encouraged those fighting cancer to keep up the good fight.
"It takes a true fighter to know what y'all deal with," Jones said according to the Pensacola New Journal.
About 4,500 people showed and raised more than $215,000, well over the $186,000 goal. The money went towards breast cancer research, education, services and advocacy.

Dwyane Wade Begins Campaign for New ShoeEven though Wade probably won’t start playing until December due to the healing of his surgically repaired dislocated shoulder and knee, he still wants to get his new shoe. This year’s campaign is inspired by the pain and rehabilitation of his injuries, with the commercials beginning to air this week, which he himself wrote.
“Being out last season with injuries reminded me of my first year at Marquette University when I had to sit out for a year. It was like basketball was being taken away from me again and it inspired me to put my thoughts on paper. Most people may not believe that I wrote this, but I did,” said
Dwyane Wade. “I’ve spent the off-season preparing to come back and take the court. When I hear my name announced this season, I’ll know that I’m back with basketball.”
The Converse Wade 3 will roll out starting this month and throughout the 2007-08 season in various colors. Prices will start at $100.
