In the July 14 edition of The Player's Life we reported on security personnel working for Allen Iverson allegedly beating down folks as they tried to enter an Iverson after-party at the Hampton, Va. club, Crabbers. Well, according to a recently filed lawsuit, AI's security crew put on a repeat performance the very next weekend in Washington. The filing even claimed that Iverson himself even got in a blow or two during the incident which allegedly took place after his Celebrity Summer Classic 2005 in July.

Allen Iverson is tough on the court. His bodyguards are tougher off it.

According to the lawsuit's claims, Marlin Godfrey and David Anthony Kitrell were at the Eyebar in D.C., chilling in the V.I.P. section, when Iverson and his security entered the club and were directed to the V.I.P. section. With the help of Eyebar staff, Iverson's security cleared the spot out, assisting Godfrey and Kitrell to another table in the area.

Then, according to the lawsuit, "members of Iverson's security detail initiated an unprovoked attack upon the Plaintiffs (Godfrey and Kitrell) that cleared the Eyebar. As opposed to exercising his security detail, Iverson joined in the fracas by striking at Godfrey with a bottle and otherwise assaulting him."

Godfrey says he suffered a concussion, perforated eardrum, a damaged right eye and contusions and bruises over his body. Kitrell says he was also injured. Members of the Eyebar staff trying to ease the situation were also hurt and are plaintiffs in the suit as well. The suit is seeking a whopping $5 million-plus in damages. Iverson has not responded to the allegations.

Rapper The Game Joins the ABA

Following a successful debut album this year, The Game is setting his sights on something a little different in the next year -- the basketball court. The Game has signed with the American Basketball Association (ABA) squad, Inglewood Cobras, and is planning to play either shooting guard or small forward.

The rapper is said to have some skills on the court having played high school ball with Golden State Warrior Baron Davis. He was good enough to have earned that earned a basketball scholarship to Washington State University, but was asked to leave after some drug allegations.

"I grew up playing basketball. I'm only 25 and I'm still in professional shape," The Game told Allhiphop.com. "I've been in intense practices with the Cobras for about a month now and the team is looking forward to winning every game and selling out The Forum with the help of myself and a bunch of talented young guys eager to elevate their own basketball careers." The Game also said that he invested a little something in the team and is now a partial owner.

Who are some other recent ABA players? Master P on the Las Vegas Rattlers and Dennis Rodman on the Long Beach Jam.

King James Gives Chinese Sneak Peek at New Shoe

Two weeks ago, when the Cavs were playing the Memphis Grizzlies, LeBron James was wearing his new Nike Zoom LeBron III shoe. But the only people able to get a pair lived thousands of miles away in China. Chinese basketball fans had the opportunity to cop a limited edition pair, of only 1,000 pairs available, a week before the shoes were released in the U.S.

Shoe companies have recently been hitting up Asia with promotional campaigns since the success and popularity of Yao Ming following his 2002 NBA debut. LeBron headed over there to promote his products, and Adidas sent over Tracy McGrady hoping to get the Chinese excited about Ming's superstar teammate. James' Zoom LeBron III is now available in the U.S. for $125 smackaroos.

Shaquille O'Neal and his wife Shaunie are expecting their sixth child. At a party for the Real Model Foundation and The Miami Heat Family Outreach Charitable Fund last weekend, Shaunie told the Sun Sentinel's Ethan Skolnick that this may be the last child.

"I think it's enough, I really do, he calls me Mrs. Wayans,” she said. "I really don't think we're gonna keep going. I think we vacationed a little too much this summer."

In a new documentary called, 'Through the Fire,' Telfair lets cameras follow him throughout his entire senior in high school up until he got drafted by the Portland Trailblazers in 2004.

The documentary focuses on the pressure Telfair faced deciding whether to go to college or to go pro to get his family out of the projects in Brooklyn, N.Y.

ESPN bought the rights to the film and will broadcast on March 12, 2006 during March madness and then release the film straight to video two days later.
