For you ladies hoping that the “engagement” between
LaLa Vasquez and
Carmelo Anthony is a sham, the celeb couple is now going to be closer than ever. On Monday, Vasquez’s rep Jack Ketsoyan told People Magazine that LaLa is pregnant and is expecting a March due date.
"The couple is very excited and they can't wait until the arrival of their new baby," Ketsoyan told People.
The couple got engaged back in December of 2004 and announced they wanted to get married the following summer. However the date got pushed back to this past summer, but now the couple plans to get married after the new baby arrives. Sorry ladies, Melo is that much closer to being wholly and totally unavailable. Like you had a chance anyway!
Tiger Woods Throws a Block PartyOn October 7,
Tiger Woods
will be celebrating as well as fundraising for the 10th anniversary of the
Tiger Woods Foundation
. Woods will host a block party at The Grove in Anaheim, California featuring music from…
Glenn Fry and
Joe Walsh? We wonder who this “block party” is catered to. Celebrity chef Bobby Flay will be cooking up the meals and King of Queens stars
Kevin James will host the event. Is Tiger the only ethnic person at this event or what?
"The road to reaching 10 million kids has been an amazing journey, and I'm extremely proud of what we've accomplished," Tiger said in a statement. "I'm so grateful to everyone who has shared our vision for the past decade. We've come a long way in 10 years, and this is just the beginning. "We wouldn't be able to celebrate this milestone without my Dad's vision," Woods added. "His core values are reflected in everything we do, and the millions of kids we've reached are a tremendous legacy to his powerful message of caring and sharing."

hereJonathan Bender Talks Record Label, Reality ShowThe story of
Jonathan Bender is one that would frustrate NBA team owners: a kid straight out of high school with the skills to pay the bills, goes as the fifth pick in the 1999 draft, gets mad money, gets hurt, retires at 25. And it’s not like Bender played the Pacers out of millions of dollars. If he was able, he would still be playing, but due to his chronic knee injury, Bender retired last season. But that doesn’t mean he’ll be kicking it in a rockin’ chair for the rest of his year.
“I actually wanted to start a record label before I even started playing ball,” Bender told us about his Akright Records imprint. “Once I got in the league that opened up different avenues and gave me the finances to start doing what I really wanted to do. That was in 1999 and from then we’ve been trying to get the right music, the right sound to actually have a product to put out there in the marketplace.”
Right now Bender has three artists signed to his label,
Young A
,
Shaw T and
Nosa
. The artists are your traditionally down south hip-hop artists and are already working the mixtape scene along with a few singles floating around.
Bender is also in the midst of producing his own reality show tentatively titled “Retired at 25”. The show is a look at Bender’s life outside of the NBA, as he runs his record label and his concert promotion company.
“We’re finishing up the pilot and we’re in talks with a couple of networks that might be interested,” Bender said. “You know my life now at 25, a retired NBA player; it’s a wild life I live. It’ll show me going through all my different ventures. It’s like jumping from the court into a life that’s 10 times faster. One minute I’m talking to my financial people about my real estate properties, the next minute I jump into the studio with my artists then I’m going to concerts that I’m throwing then to wherever I’m at.”
He’s busier now than when he was in the league. Doesn’t sound like retirement.
“I like it though,” Bender said. “I got energy!”
Falcons’ Michael Jenkins Gives Away Ford ExpeditionLast weekend Conyers, Georgia resident Michelle Williams was given a
2007 Ford Expedition EL by Falcons’ receiver
Michael Jenkins
for winning the Ford-sponsored “Choose Your Expedition” contest. The contest asked for Expedition owners to write an essay on how their vehicle plays an integral role in their lives. Williams wrote in about taking adopted and foster children to theme parks in her 2005 Expedition.
"Our travel is always geared toward a definite purpose, that of bringing hope and happiness to children in need," she writes. "I'm thankful that my 'Expedition' allows for our expeditions."
Jenkins presented the new ride to Williams at Georgia Dome and hooked her up with tickets to watch the Falcons beat down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
K-Mart Buys All the Jordans He WantsLast week Denver Nuggets’
Kenyon Martin
hung out with a bunch of teenagers at Denver’s Montbello High School. In the past two years, the mostly Black and Latino high school has been dealing with violence that claimed the lives three students on the school’s campus. K-Mart spoke to the teens about making good decisions, staying out of gangs and helping to put an end to the violence.
"You have more to deal with than I had to deal with," Martin told the students. "I'm here to tell you to try to make the right decision."
Martin also shared the struggles he went through growing up in Dallas, Texas. He said his mother helped him stay away from bad influences and the drug dealing that was going on around his hood.
"You see kids in your neighborhood, they've got (Air) Jordans and nice clothes and you can't afford that," Martin said. "They're getting it because they're selling drugs . . . so it's very tempting. But I wasn't willing to go to jail over no Jordans. I buy all the Jordans I want to now."
Making $92.5 million in seven years? Now that’s an inspiration!
