Kobe Does Asia
Last week
Kobe Bryant launched his Kobe 81 Tour of Asia. The tour’s purpose was to celebrate Kobe’s 81 point game, promote Nike and spread the goodwill of basketball to the Asian nations.
Your boy first stopped off in Tokyo, Japan and led a basketball camp for about 170 kids. The next day Kobester made his way to Disneyland in Hong Kong and joined a bunch of young basketball players for a day of fun at the theme park. He also announced that his foundation is planning to select a few of the players to come visit him in the U.S.
Taiwan was Kobe’s next stop where he told kids that “It's important to enjoy the game. Just by doing it and actually playing the game you can be good at it.” He also dedicated a basketball court to indigenous children in Wufeng Township, Hsinchu County where landslide destroyed a majority of the region’s basketball courts. Kobe then headed to Seoul, South Korea where he co-hosted a talk show with Daniel Henney, an Asian superstar.
He ended the tour by going to Beijing and returning to Hong Kong for a Nike party where Kobe introduced his new shoe designed in collaboration with graf artist Stash. According to SLAM, apparently the limited edition shoes come with a letter jacket and together cost around $1,024. We don’t know if Americans can get them though.

Ron Artest Only Star for Charity GameLast weekend Wheelchair Charities Inc. hosted its 15th annual
New York Basketball Classic but apparently it was short on stars. New York Knick
Stephon Marbury was slated to participate in the game, but cancelled at the last minute because he was in California promoting his Starbury Collection. The New Orleans’ Hornets
Chris Paul was supposed to be there, but he too but cancelled as well. The only star who showed was
Ron Artest.
"I always try to be a part of it," Artest told the New York Daily News. "It's a good thing. Hank (Carter, founder and chairman of Wheelchair Charities Inc.) took me in when I was a junior in high school - maybe even earlier than that - and he kept me out of trouble and off the streets."
We told you Ron Ron was for the children!
