Mayweather, De La Hoya get realSpeaking of parties,
Floyd Mayweather Jr. invited us to his birthday bash on February 23 in Vegas. We'll give you the details on what happens, but after that he'll be getting ready to fight
Oscar De la Hoya on May 5 and most of it will be caught on tape for a reality show/documentary on HBO to promote the fight. Both Mayweather and De la Hoya will have their preparation recorded. Mayweather gave us the lowdown on what to expect: It's something that has never been done before, Mayweather told us. The fans can see me every step of the way. They can see how the crème de la crème goes about his business. It's a great opportunity for me to go into peoples living rooms and give them the best of what makes Mayweather pound-for-pound the best.
Look for the show,
De La Hoya/Mayweather 24/7to begin airing on Sundays starting April 15 and run until the fight on May 5. The Pay-Per-View bout will go down at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Emmitt Smith still getting endorsements Emmitt Smith may have retired, but he's still a popular dude thanks to his time with
"Dancing with the Stars." He's so popular that he's still getting offered endorsement deals. The latest one comes from The Good Feet Store, which signed Smith to a four-year endorsement deal. The Good Feet Store is an international manufacturer and retailer of custom-fitted arch supports and natural sponge rubber cushions.
"I am excited to be building a strong relationship with Good Feet, a company that I have come to rely on for my own foot comfort needs," Smith said. "While I may have retired from football, I still maintain an active lifestyle that requires me to be on my feet daily. No matter where I go or what shoes I am wearing, Good Feet is always with me and it's made a difference in my life."
Terms of the deal have not been released, but they must be good, right?.
This spring Smith will star in an advertising campaign that will include television and radio commercials as well as infomercials and in-store marketing materials.
Kobe scouting high school talentA bunch of Georgia high school basketball players had a surprise guest at one of their games last week when
Kobe Bryant stepped into their gym to watch them play. The day before, Kobe and the
Lakers beat the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta and stayed an extra day to watch the Columbia High School varsity team, ranked number one in Class AAAA in Georgia, dismantle St. Pius High School 65-18.
"Everybody was saying, 'Kobe! Kobe! Kobe!' " Columbia star forward Jeremy Price, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We had to put on a show for Kobe."
Maybe hes just scoping out the competition he'll have to face in five years or so..
