Being in show business has made me very strong. I’m used to a lot of disappointment. You’re not going to get every job. There is a lot of stuff out there that I want to do, that I might never get a chance of doing, but I’m not going to stop trying. There might be something that you want, but if it’s not for you it’s not going to happen. Even in landing this position as the role of Rochelle (on ‘Everybody Hates Chris), at first I didn’t want it. I was concentrating on being on a one hour drama. But God made it so.

All these doors kept closing in my face and they kept closing because the one God had for me was wide open. The doors had to close in my face. Life lessons like that show me what’s for you will be for you. I never worry. I don’t worry about things, because worrying turns into doubt and I don’t ever want to doubt God.

My faith is fearless. I’m an evangelist and I pray everyday and my faith level is tested everyday. If God tells me that something’s for me, that’s what I believe. I don’t worry about it. Worrying brings doubt.

My faith was definitely tested when I had a relationship and things fell apart with that relationship. I can’t say I didn’t see it coming, but I didn’t see it coming to that end result. It created an imbalance in my life. Usually I don’t plan but I was in a relationship and I planned, I had it all mapped out and God was like, ‘No, it’s not going to happen.’

I have had a lot of testing times, there have been a lot of things in my life that have tested me and I have passed my test. So I hope I can pass all the other tests. You learn until the day you die. You never ever stop learning. I have learned from my mistakes. My new thing is I don’t want to make the same mistake twice. I’m more disciplined and with being disciplined and trying to learn from mistakes. Mistakes are not mistakes, they have to happen in order for you to know.
