      Why You Should Care:

As president of MTV, Norman is at the helm of a global culture maker with an expansive reach of 405 million subscribers in 164 countries. Since MTV is also the leading multimedia brand and cable network for teens, young adults and many not-so-young adults, all of her decisions have the potential to color, shift and shape global pop culture. Norman will oversee strategy, management, business development, marketing and promotion, finance, communications and human resources for the network and these affiliates: MTV2, mtvU, MTV Espanol, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, MTV.com and MTV Overdrive.

Norman joined MTV in 1991 as a production manager and rose to Senior Vice President of Marketing and On Air promotions. She successfully led the launch and branding of MTV’s “10 Spot” and designed event campaigns for the MTV Video and Music Awards. She also headed the launch campaign for ‘The Osbournes,’ one of cable’s highest rated programs ever, and she led the movie campaign for The Kings of Comedy. In 2002, she moved to VH1 as General Manager and quickly revamped the network’s look, programming and branding. She was promoted to President of VH1 in 2004 and continued to build the network’s presence with a number of admirable results.

Norman’s work at MTV and VH1 have garnered for her many awards including the 2002 TV Academy Emmy Award for National Public Service, the 2003 NAMIC Quasar Vision award for creating original cable programming containing positive imagery of people of color, and the 2004 Creative Spirit Award from Pratt Institute. Norman was also named one of Ebony’s Outstanding Women in Marketing and Communications.
