While Denver Nuggets Carmelo Anthony and his fianceé La La Vasquez begin to plan their wedding, La La is getting to know some of the folks around Denver. She’s getting so comfortable in the Mile High City that she spit some rhymes on local singer Melissa Lujan's hot track, 'My Life.' It's obvious that the lyrics La La is spitting is directed toward her Melo-man, but might have been recorded before the two were engaged due to the line, "I hope that one day I’ll be flashing a ring…" You can listen to the track in the "Media" section at Lujan's Web site.

Even before Melo put a ring on her finger, La La was dropping rhymes about her boy.

Melo and La La are also the guests of honor at a cocktail supper June 29 hosted by Mark Schwartz and Ellen Robinson, who work with Melo on his charity work through The Family Resource Center in Denver. If you want to go, it’s $500 to get in. If you want to get up close and personal, drop $2,500 and you get a couple of tickets and a chance to play "H-O-R-S-E" against Melo. All the money goes toward The Family Resource Center.

Celebs Invade NBA Finals

Although Eva Longoria was probably the only celeb found during the NBA Finals games between the Spurs and Pistons in San Antonio, a handful of celebrities came out to support the Pistons in Detroit during their three-game home stand. Eminem, Stevie Wonder, Anita Baker, Lebron James, Kid Rock, Jerome Bettis, Braylon Edwards, Kid Rock, Bill Russell, along with Longoria, who was cheering for the Spurs, all came out to the Palace in Auburn Hills, Mich., to catch the games last week.

"I'm just here watching the game," Bettis told the Oakland Press as he was crowded by autograph seekers at Game 4. "It's the Finals. It brings out everybody; it brings out the best of them."

But Kid Rock says don’t try to compare The Palace to the Staples Center in Los Angeles, known for its celebrity attendees.

"This is Detroit; L.A. celebrities are fake," he said. "Most of them are not even from Los Angeles. They just migrated there. Me, I've been here all season long. I paid for these tickets, and it's been a great year."

A-Rod Gets Down With Nike… Finally

Alex Rodriguez, third baseman for the New York Yankees, has been sporting Nike gear for the better part of a year, but never had an endorsement deal. Not that he really needed an endorsement deal, A-Rod signed a five-year contract that started this season and will cover all his gear except his gloves and bats.

"Nike has had a long-standing relationship with A-Rod and this just formalizes it," Nike spokesman Rodney Knox told the Associated Press.

Black Voices Entertainment Image: Tweet

Is there really something more than music that brings Tweet and Missy Elliott together? Finally tired of refuting rumors that she and Elliott are lovers, Tweet gives the scoop on why she's able to easily ignore the trash talk these days.

Later in the week after the announcement, A-Rod and his boys were seen at Soho House in New York City. Apparently he grabbed the attention of a few ladies as he chilled with his shirt off by the rooftop pool.

Muhammad Ali’s Daughter Writes About Parkinson's

While Laila Ali is getting most of the attention right now for knocking out Erin Toughill and winning the first WBC women’s title two weeks ago, another daughter of Muhammed Ali’s, Rasheda Ali, is getting attention for her new children’s book, 'I'll Hold Your Hand So You Won't Fall: A Child's Guide to Parkinson's Disease.' Ali wrote the book in an effort to help educate her children about Parkinson’s disease. "I wrote this book because I wanted my children to understand what their granddad is going through," Ali, the mother of a 4-year-old and 6-year-old told Lloyd Grove of the NY Daily News. "I know we're not the only ones going through this. Other families are dealing with Parkinson's. It's a very complex illness, and the medical jargon is going to beat you up with all the terms that get thrown around, so this was my way of explaining it to children."

The book also has a foreword from her father.

Shaq’s Beef Is Still On…

After being ousted from playoffs by the Detroit Pistons, Shaquille O’Neal is still bitter about the situation, but it’s nothing compared to how he still feels about his former teammate. When asked in ESPN’s Sunday Conversation program if he’d ever talk to Kobe Bryant again, Shaq said "Who?"

"Kobe Bryant," the interviewer said again.

"You know what I am not familiar with that name," Shaq responded. "I know a lot of names and I have a lot of names in my head, but I am not familiar with that name. Especially if there is nothing to talk about, I'm sorry I can't recall that name."

    Kobe Honors Medical Doctors

Speaking of Kobe Bean, the basketball star was on hand to honor Dr. David Rimoin, director of the Medical Genetics Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the Century Plaza Hotel over the weekend. Bryant was a speaker at the 20th Annual Cedars-Sinai Sports Spectacular, who gave props to all doctors working to make life easier for the ailing.

"There are so many people here that are so easily identifiable as famous sports figures, but what we do is nothing,” Bryant said. “The doctors in this room just make miracles happen."

Also in attendance were Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Steve Garvey and Luc Robitaille. The event raised more than $1.5 million to help Cedars-Sinai doctors aid children with birth defects.
