Linking Up Lipsticks and Liners

Let's say you're reading a paper or a report, and you want to bring attention to something you've just read. You underline it, right? Or maybe you highlight it?
Well, a lip liner does the same thing for your lipstick. It brings attention and definition to your application. But be careful. A lip liner can make or break the perfect lip color.
What's the trick? It's simple. You want to stick with a lip liner that is in the same color family as your lipstick, just a couple of shades darker.
There are a few exceptions. Brown liners go well with pinkish lipsticks and they work wonders with plums.
You can apply your lip liner two ways: before or after you apply lipstick. If you have a hard time finding the line of your lip, it's best to apply your liner first. If you have well-defined lips, applying your lip liner after you apply lipstick makes for a smoother application and is easier to blend.
